So, Oricon compiled a list of total sales for the Heisei period (last 30 years).
Singles, albums, DVD and Blu-Ray sales are counted. ![]() Here it is again in printed form, looking a bit better readable in design: Spoiler:
Kuu is at #41 for all artists. If you only look at female solos, it looks like this: 01. Ayumi Hamasaki 02. Namie Amuro 03. Hikaru Utada 04. ZARD 05. Yumi Matsutoya 06. Maki Ohguro 07. MISIA 08. Mai Kuraki 09. Miki Imai 10. Koda Kumi 11. Mariah Carey The list consists of 11 female solos, 8 male solos, 18 bands and 13 groups/duos of any sort. Oricon also released several statistics - one being an overview of the development of physical sales over those 30 years. Physical sales peaked in the mid-1990's and were falling pretty gradually from there. Spoiler:
If we will ever get a list with physical and digital sales combined, it will look a bit different than this one with only physical sales.

Thanks for this information, Corvina.
This puts Kumi's career into proper perspective. Kumi had a late peak, which rarely happens in female J-Pop. What she achieved between 2005 to 2010 is impressive in hindsight. |

Kumi was known for reviving interest in Jpop at that time. She’s accomplished a lot.

^ Indeed, they usually quit fast if they don't have amazing numbers, but I guess Kuu kept a good momentum starting with Cutie Honey. Had she peaked earlier she probably would be even higher on the list cause sales were already so low by mid 2000s.
Thanks for those info, Corvina! It's so great to see her among all those legends (and it was a surprise for me ZARD was that high, I didn't know she was THAT legendary). I'm a bit sad DH9 is still not on Spotify ![]() |

There is still no possibility to purchase the DNA tour via the global Fanclub.
So I want to Register for the japanese Fanclub. Can anyone help me how to register and how to use it / purchase and receive items? |

Interesting to see the heisei period list.
It's worth noticing that she's the only solo female artist who debuted after the 2000 that is on that list.

It also outsold Driving Hit's 8 already in total.
It's great!

For a 3 discs remix album to be priced at 3,900 Yen instead of much higher , I think that helped sales to a certain extent
I like that the price point plays with the word sankyuu as in Japanese context you pronounce 3 as San while 9 as Kyuu x)

^I sent an email to Global FC this morning regarding that. I haven't heard back yet.
That's awesome news. The sales for DH9 are likely higher cause it includes 2 additional discs with best remixes. I really hope we will see more Driving Hit's albums in the future and she won't stop at 9 or 10.
