Concert Tour 2000 A & B: Dream & Reality?
In the NTV Report 2000, Ayu said that her concert tour 2000 is based on the theme yume(dream) and genjitsu(reality).
i dont really get this... is concert A yume and concert B genjitsu? or is it the other way round? or does both concerts have yume and genjitsu meanings?? and how does Ayu actually express these 2 themes in the concerts?? |

The concerts are actually almost identical, they are just from different legs of the tour.

maybe it's a mix of both elements in both Concert tours. Overall, I found the Concert tour to my liking, both A and B. Especially the song SEASONS, when the lyrics appeared behind her...
The reality part may be expressed in some of her songs, like End roll, monochrome, too late...And there are some expressions of "dream" from the songs Far away, ever free, and others too. I like the song Fly high, because it's really like a fairytale as she dresses like a flower and there are some leaves dancing around the stage! Overall, this can be said to be a combination of both elements of "Yume" and "genjitsu". |

The themes of "dream" and "reality" are actually pretty apparent... at the beginning of Act 1 she even says "welcome to the dream world"... then at the start of act 2, time rewinds on that big screen and everything starts over, only this time it's reality, not dreams. It's more of a figurative reality though, as alot of the onstage themes are definitely not realistic at all. The most obvious giveaway is the theme during the ever free onscreen video that the dream world is dead.
otc is right about some of the dream themes in act 1 being more obvious... the flowers, the fairy tale feeling, the floating up, and the multiple Trust/Depend on you ayus especially. The reality themes in Act 2 are definitely more subtle... act 1 was like ayu's wishes & fears (monochrome was VERY well done), and then act 2 showed how she really felt (like a doll in A Song for XX, or like a raver in Trauma... still trying to interpret vogue, Far away, and SEASONS' settings and costumes. Also still trying to figure out the role of the clowns. (Maybe it's a reference to her career as an entertainer.) If i could understand some of the onscreen japanese during their appearances it'd be easier ![]()
