What was the problem with "HEAVEN?"

Well What was the problem with HEAVEN? In my opinion Heaven was an awsome single! However, how come it didn't do so well in the first week? Although, it's still staying strong in the Oricon Charts but what was wrong with it. What do you guys think??

i say the PV plays a big factor .. most people today don't like things that are too simple .. we (the ayu fans) might enjoy it since we do watch as much performance + PV of hers as we can get our hands on .. but people who are not die-hard ayu fanatics will only be drawn in by something that makes them go 'wow' ...

and sadly .. Heaven is missing this 'wow' factor ... STEP you was one of the best PV for 2005 in my opinion .. and is this LOVE .. she looks absolutely beautiful in them ..

mmm I also think that the PV was a big factor. It was nice and all, but a bit on the plain side. I loved the single, but maybe it would have done better if Will has a PV...

but as for the first week, wasn't it because they shipped it to the wrong place during the first week?

it didn't have a big impact at first, becaus ethere was no shock factor, but it proved to be a great single with an awesome PV, plus you gotta consider STEP You/Is this love? and fairyland had 2 PVs each, and for HEAVEN to be selling as much as those singles with ONE PV (and a quite simple one) means that people do enjoy it.

Just because it "didn't do well" (I'm sure tons of artists would kill to sell even half of what it did in one week but that's another discussion entirely) doesn't mean that there was anything *wrong* with it, it just means that another artist/group, for that brief moment in time, sold more copies.

For me, it took a while to like the song. Even now, I only like the first half of "Heaven." "Will" was also a big change from what Ayu had been releasing before. At first, I didn't even want to buy the single. But, in the end, I decided that I liked the songs enough that I should buy it.

maybe they did not buy it the moment it come out, then they decided that they wanted the single, so they bought it in the 2nd week? afterall, there's only 1 pv, unlike the other singles which have 2 pvs.

I think its because WILL wasnt advertised much, unlike STEP YOU/ IS THIS LOVE which had two songs, people probably thought HEAVEN only had one song.. Plus no Will PV..

But then shouldn't the movie help with it. And I totally agree that the PV for Heaven wasn't that impresive.

come to think of it, there was probably NO problem with HEAVEN at all. Its all because of Shinobi. HEAVEN sold the average of Ayu's CDs lately.. 300 000 copies and slighly more.. and the competition was amazing, Utada, NANA, Ai Otsuka.. its a wonder she got through..

heaven is meeting the average sales so it is ok. but i say heaven could have done better with a more exciting pv.

Maybe because Ayu had a lot of competition the first week. Personally I think Heaven did fine.

I'll say there's nothing wrong with it, in the end it seems to sell as much as the "average" ayu-single does now-a-days. the slow sales might have something to do with fairyland still being in the weekly chart the week before this single was released (if my memory serves me right =P) HEAVEN came very quickly after fairyalnd.

I think HEAVEN had a certain wow-factor. From the first moment I heard the song from the SHINOBI clips, I loved it. It's a very beautiful power-ballad, the arrangement is along the lines of "M" and the chorus melody is somewhat like seasons. So musical wise there's nothing to hold against the single. The PV was ok I think, not pop-ish, but still very emotional and gorgeous. Sometimes I think some of you expect too much from the sales... This is the number of singles ayu sells these days, and the number of or nature of tie-ups doesen't have everything to say, it's still an ayu song.

I think what's wrong with HEAVEN is just that I might have been expecting too much because of the movie connection, but in the end Shinobi wasn't that big and there was a lot of strong competition on the chart.

Nothing was wrong with the sales, it was on par with the rest of her recent singles. It seems like overreaction to say there was a problem with it.

back then ayu was still very popular .. at least compare to now ..
don't mistake me for hating ayu or anything .. but the songs back then .. for some reason .. are just a lot better than now .. I mean .. I can listen to her old album nowadays still .. repeatedly .. but her new songs .. like fairyland, heaven .. I sometimes skip her song to listen to other songs ..

step you on the other hand .. I still listen and watch the PV quite a lot these days ..
