The Official Carrie Underwood Thread
I love Carrie - so much.
Anyway, a bit of background for those who don't know - Carrie is a popular country singer who rose to fame in 2005 when she competed on and won the fourth season of American Idol (I... hated her at first on there but she grew on me). She's known for such hits as Jesus, Take the Wheel, Don't Forget to Remember Me, and her most recent hit, Before He Cheats. Her music is awesome, and her voice is as perfect as you can get for a young (21, I believe) singer these days. Check her out if you haven't already. Regardless, discuss her and her awesome album (Some Hearts). And anything else Carrie. Right now, I'm listening to Whenever You Remember. <3 This song is beautiful. So underrated.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEEELLLL.
I friggin love that song. <3 Yeah, she's awesome. In addition of being very beautiful, she can SING like Christina Aguilera probably. Before He Cheats is just way too excellent. I hope it enters the top 10. Don't Forget To Remember bores me to death. |

JTTW is so corny, but... it's... so... pretty.
I honestly only hate her cover of Independence Day, due to its lifelessness. Inside Your Heaven is awful, but so awful I enjoy it. I also love that cheesy generic schlocky crap. Plus, you know, the song title. Inside Your Heaven. That's awesome. That's like the dirtiest AI song title ever. She is gorgeous. People thought she was fat on AI, which is odd. She looked great on there (...although... her hair for Alone was, err...) I have a feeling BHC will be top 20 on the Hot 100, and easy #1 on the country charts.

Before He Cheats was #33 last week though, so I expect it to go up. Later we'll find out.. I love the video, it really added another aspect to her sweet demure country girl image.
Inside Your Heaven is indeed awful but the melody is catchy and listenable enough. How the heck it got to number 1 is puzzling though. Like all the AI songs, none of them are even good enough for #1. |

Quote:
I think the physical single has a lot to do with the chart position. Fanbases (remember, those come built-in for a short while after the show is over) buy those things in droves just so they can get their Idol to #1 (I can only imagine 19 Entertainment... plays their part in it too. I imagine they or people connected to them buy tons of the singles too). Carrie's a much better performer these days too. Man. I remember her robotic Stepford wooden moves on-stage then I look at her now and think "DAMN! She's come a long way".

Better, it's #24 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the country charts this week.
However, wrong timing? To reach the top, it has to battle Gwen's "Wind It Up" (-not updated-), Justin's "My Love" (#5), Nelly Furtado's "Maneater" (#16) and plethora of other songs. In other words... Fat chance, Carrie. |

Actually... it's #1 on the country charts now. WHEE!
I don't mind wherever it peaks on the Hot 100 now, though. It'll still do very well. It already has, anyway.
