My analysis on GREEN PV

I am just starting a new thread since I think the other discussion thread is getting too long...

I think the theme for GREEN is the feeling of being TRAPPED, LOST OF FREEDOM, and it is actually a very good PV for me.

Start of PV - walking in back street - here we can't see ayu, but from the footsteps of high heels we know it's know...she's walkin in wat looks like the back of houses in a street, in fact, it looks like a maze...all the walls are white and they look the same, it first introduce the idea of LOST and TRAPPED...i love how we don't see ayu but the camera shows her action in first person view, this helps us to understand how ayu feels while walkin in a maze

Street scene - walking among people - here ayu has very exaggerated acting, I think this is to emphasis how she is trying to walk in a crowded group of people and find her own way, we see that she is a singer and she is trying to push through the crowd to get to the threatre, ie she needs to push through ppl to get her job done, when she sings "I'm afraid I might show my weakness And start crying", it emphasis the theme of lost and trapped once again, she faces public (crowd) everyday...yet she needs to appear strong, even tho she is feeling trapped (crowd and maze) in order to get her job done (getting to theatre)

theatre scene - i think the group dance scene just a re-enacting her role as a singer in daily life, while she sings, we see her lover is in the audience watching her....since she is the star, her lover can't be with her on stage, but just sit from a distance to see her...here she sing the lovers of not being able to love freely (wihle on stage), while her lover has another woman offstage with her..which is something ayu can't do since she is the super star, she doens't have the freedom to just be a normal girl by her lover's side:

I noticed this love
The moment my fingertip touched his
And my feelings were
About to flow out

I wonder why it's difficult for us
To walk as we wish

notice at 3:20 of the PV, we see ayu in the middle in the white featherly costume, while the male dancers around her hold bird cages with birds inside, and ayu made a pose like a bird (esp with that costume)....this scene just goes for few seconds and it's completely out of context in the stage scene..why did she decide to put that in there?? I think that just signifies how she is feeling...that she is a bird trapped in a cage...while her cage is the stage

starting 3:53, we see ayu off stage in the back room, here we have scenes of ayu and her lover dancing, interwind with scenes of ayu by herself in backstage....and it looks as if ayu is thinking and feeling her lover, ayu maybe imaging the time she spends with her lover, and while we see how the dancers interact with each other, ayu being the superstar can't interact freely with others, not even her lover, the scenes of them dancing interwind with ayu' thinking and touching herself further re-emphasis this...it was like a dream

It is finally morning - after a day's work, we see ayu leaving the theatre by herself, and a car with a person similar to her lover is leaving as well, yet ayu couldn't say goodbye to the lover (again theme of trapped and lost of freedom), we see how the car turned one way and sadly, ayu had to go another, by herself in the lonely street, even after a night of glamourous time on stage, she is by herself again the lonely street, without the person she loves

here she sings in the empty street:

When the trees come into bud again
And the leaves are freshly green
I want to show my smile
More natural than now

I think this last verse is kinda a hope for ayu, the first 2 lines show that when time pass by in the future, (i.e. when the trees bud and are fresh again, it actually signifies a long time pass, because it takes a while for trees to grow again), she wants to be her own self, again a more happy self content with life..note how this last verse is a direct answer to the opening verse of the song, where she didn't dare to hope, she just hope that one day, in the future, she can be happy and be her own self again, but being trapped in the role of a singer

the opening verse:
The brilliant trees standing in the cool air
Are losing the colors as if hiding themselves
Just like me who is afraid of the warmth
Keeping myself away from anything leading to hope

notice how ayu walked away by herself after telling us her wish, because she knows it will only be a dream for now, it's not happening yet, at least not in the near future, and she needs to carry on with her life as a singer

and yes, im sure ur interpretation spoke up for many people like me. it's amazing actually when I first thought of it after reading one of the ayuchina member's interpretation..

If there's one thing that I have thought of already in your analysis, it has to be the part where she poses with the bird cages... an obvious sign of being trapped. But even more so, that seems to be like a "final" pose... like when the song/performance ends, and she does this finale pose while the curtain draws... Maybe she's also trying to tell us that, at the end of the day, after her work/concert, she's still the same as ever - still trapped.

I think it has to do with Hope....the lyrics (opening and ending) talks about trees..how it's budding, fresh leaves coming out etc etc...it is a sign of time and a sign of HOPE, when the trees turn green again and when leaves begin to bud, a new time has begin and so there is hope, I think the theme is that ayu is trapped, but she still has hope, hence the title GREEN

of couse of all these are just my thoughts...the great thing about ayu and her songs is that you can interpret the way that fits you and the way you think....so feel free to think about it the way you like!
