glitter didn't really impressed me, it sounded like a second version of "BLUE BIRD" ..

fated is my favourite right now and I love it more than glitter!

^Well if they release promo CDs before the official single release I think it can't highly hurt sales... I hope at least.

I realli like the single
though it's weaker than "&" & "HEAVEN" (which are the best summer singles so far, imo)
it's much better than "BLUE BIRD" & "fairyland"
I consider it as a sucess
oh, "fated" is even better than "part of Me"

I love Glitter It's so much refreshing and i can't stop playing it on winamp xD For Fated I will find time later, now I love the fresh power of Glitter. Great summerish song. Do you think Ayu will sing it during A-nation? I hope so.

Glitter is very different, but it hasn't really impressed me that much.

fated, on the otherhand, is scarily beautiful, I love it so much, it made me cry the first time I heard it. Ayu is just amazing!! I hope this CD does well.

Seriously.

If you don't like her at all, then you don't exactly need to leave AHS, just don't go near the Ayu sections. That's what a lot of users that dislike Ayu's current self do anyway.

^And it's a bit sad that people who actually hate ayu (when she did nothing to them) come here only to bad mouth her...
Or even if they hate her but bad mouthing about her somewhere else, it's still sad and pretty delusional.

I didn't see that user saying anything about "hating" Ayu. My impression is that they have just been getting disappointed with Ayu's recent releases. In my time as an Ayu fan I have definitely noticed that the newer fans tend to love everything that Ayu releases while the older ones tend to be less impressed. Either Ayu is actually getting worse or it's just a natural progression that most fans go through. So those newer fans that are praising her singles now, very well maybe "SnowDrop" in the future.
Personally I think her singles have been relatively weak since from Heaven until now, but I still love her album tracks and I go to her concerts constantly. So does not loving this single somehow mean I'm bad mouthing her or don't like her now or make me less of a fan?

Thank you SunshineSlayer, that is exactly how I feel. I never stated I hated Ayumi, I love "her" (at least I love Ayumi Hamasaki the product). And that's why I get so sad when I don't like her material, because somehow I believe that she could do so much better (but perhaps she can't). My personal music taste is on a completley new level now, I'm not satisified with Ayu or any other similar Jpop anymore.

I just wanted to say goodbye (but I didn't get a nice response, it seems I can't write anyhting negative about Ayu in this forum without being attacked in someway. It's just my personal opinion, why does it have to get to you so badly?). I'm sorry.

I had "fated" playing in my mind when I was driving to work today. I love those sad guitar sounds.

As an Ayu fan who tends to enjoy her releases, I'd have to agree that the "quality" has definitely gone down. The depth of the arrangements she used to have around the era of Bold&Delicious were fantastic, and maybe even the best in J-pop. But recently, her sound has consisted of synth beats and the usual drum sounds that are heard in just about every single Ayu song since BLUE BIRD.

But honestly, I don't have a problem with that. I don't let that sort of thing get in my way while I listen, as it is not something that you should let get into your way while enjoying music.

If the tunes and melodies are catchy, shouldn't that be enough? Good music doesn't necessarily always have to reinvent itself, if it works, it works. That's why we get winter ballads and summer pop and spring _______. Because Ayu has found that that is what fans enjoy and love to hear.

Tunes and melodies being catchy sometimes are not enough if people feel like they have bought the same or a similar song from Ayu 3 or 4 times before. Like someone stated before while comparing this song to a song like Surreal, I don't see her bringing in any new fans with this single. They sound more like "status quo" Ayu songs that people who are already her fans will buy, but not something that really jumps out as something that would grab a bunch of new fans in Japan.

Well, the songs still have their own qualities that separate them from other songs Ayu has released. I know that fairyland and ANGEL'S SONG and BLUE BIRD and so on have similar sounds to them, but there are little things that make them different from each other. I fail to understand how some people just can't tell that there is a difference.

I would love for Ayu to become all alternative again and experiment like crazy, but perhaps the experimentation ended when Ayu began to like Sweetbox.

After all, that is where people mark her decline in music and such. [and imo, her decline in complex arrangement.]

One day, when Ayu feels up to it, she'll bring CREA back and probably create the next Sakuranbo/evolution. But until then, we get this. And this is enough for me. I'm happy. But I think some people do expect a little much from Ayu, even though she is the Queen of Japanese pop. [You can say what you want, but Koda is NOT a queen. Her music is not at all comparable to what Ayu made at her peak. Basically, she's got time on her side. Ayu has been out for quite a while with more albums and etc. while Koda has little for people to compare her "newer" material to. Just watch when they run out of genres for Koda to dabble in.]
