okay, from what I understand, the reason why ayu loses her ear function totally is related to her tattoo with her ex. That is a kind of supernatural claim and put two separate idea together.
This is not the same kind magazine as mad magazine. CORECOMICS is a kind of "extreme thinking" magazine. The editors of this magazine are crazy, in our sense. They think ayu's ear loses its function is because her ex use the supernatural power after she breaks up with him. Thats why they say something about their tattoo..

I would say this magazine tries to make the disgusting/horror/supernatural level to like the tv show "fear itself","master of horror".

They are not making joke. They want to claim their crazy thinking are right.
