Thumbs up Scan of Ayu in Shin Min Newspaper

Once more, I'm not exactly sure of what it says, but I assume it relates to the recent news about Ayu hosting Norika's show in addition to hosting AyuReady:

Translation:

Ayumi Hamasaki has been replaced by BoA

Ayumi Hamasaki has had a downfall in her popularity, hence she has taken a step back to being a tv show host. As for her status as the "Queen of J-pop", it has been replaced by Korea's BoA!

Currently the host for TV programme "ayu ready?", Ayumi will replace Norika Fujiwara's "FUN" programme time slot. According to the production team, in accordance to shaping out Ayumi's new image as a TV host, the new programme will have a new name.

Rumours have it that Ayumi's continuation of TV programmes has been a delibrate action taken by Avex, her recording company, the main purpose to take Ayumi Hamasaki, with her falling popularity, out of the spotlight and hence, giving an avenue for Korea's BoA to carve out a successful career!

As analysts have pointed out, in the past few years, Ayumi's CDs have failed to hit the mark. This year, Avex, in a bid to regain its previous CD sales, has launched their second most popular singer, BoA to the front of the spotlight and have her replace Ayumi Hamasaki as the company's prominent singer.

Ayu's songs sound far better than boa!!!!!

Ayu decline?????? no way! Her memorial address album just broke the 1 million mark so this proves to show that she is still popular. Maybe she is just venturing into new fields.

well.. for me.. it's kinda true, i have to say. i have to admit i listen alot less to ayu than to boa. shoot me if you want, but ayu doesn't have the dominating no1 place in my heart aymore. at least not when i compare the lastest albums with each other.

i agreed with you... avex have made BOA release lots of stuff lately more than ayu... but that doesnt mean shes taken ayumi places as no.1 singer in avex or even jpop queen.... her mini album outsold boa full album ayu singles in 2003 out sold boa singles in 2003...

she beats ayu in 2003 only in more release avex made her take out witch werent that good...

ayu didnt do that great in 2003... but she still way ahead of boa...

if theres people i think that can maybe take ayu place as jpop queens are mai K/mika nakashima

I hope Avex will pay dearly for their poor decision if they do support Boa more now just because Ayu sales is down a bit now.

Ayu brought in so much profits (and I mean really a lot even when compare to other artists) and once she slows down a bit, Avex decide to move her out. That is not right at all and I hope Avex will pay a big price when they realize that investing this heavily in Boa was a dumb choice at best.

dont get all depress ^_^ its not really official by avex.,... or something we can really trust.... ^_^ ayumi still release ^_^ 2DVD;s and a up coming single ^_^ she sure aint slowing down ^_^ this seems more like a lie...i think this is just to boost boa sales and popularity.. cause she seems going down way faster than ayu..... ^_^

Thanks for the translation, RuiXiong, but it does seem a bit unsettling to me, as I hope it's just a rumor. With the fact that BoA's become quite popular these past few months, along with her attending the MTVAA this month, there may be some validity in it. It's not to say that Ayu's hit some all-time low, but with a 3 month gap between Memorial Address and Moments, I hope Ayu continues to release songs regularly and doesn't become like Hikki (whom releases new CDs a few times a year at most).

I got over BoA quick. I don't think she's all that great to replace Ayu

I'm interested to see if this happens. I hope not, of course. But, I think Ayu will release things for awhile that will interest me. I think it's strange that avex would try to limit Ayu's releases to make BoA more popular. They didn't do that to Amuro (The former j-pop in-thing) to make room for Ayu and the other new generation of Avex stars. this doesn't make much sense if that's their actual thinking process.
