LOL, ownsarai! That's hilarious! But she and Max are fairly close, so it was probably more like a daughter asking for her father's permission to marry her lover. Awww...

Part of me honestly thinks that Ayu will move to Los Angeles... and part of me really hopes that she will. She truly does deserve a break with lots of rest, and getting away from Japan could provide that for her. Plus given all the fan support she has in the US and seeing how much she enjoys coming to America, it makes more sense for her to move to the US instead of making Manuel move to Japan.

The comments on Japanese news blogs and whatnot are all over the spectrum. Everyone seems shocked, of course. Some people say congratulatory things like "おめでとう!" while others bluntly say "なんか離婚しそうだがな" or other things about divorce. Many of them keep negatively emphasizing how Ayu is marrying a "white" guy or a "foreign guy from Los Angeles." And there are some people saying that Manuel is only marrying her for money. Japanese tweets, on the other hand, seem fairly positive and supportive, so...
