I was just as shocked by this news as I was that she was getting married. I was starting to warm up to the idea of her being married to Mannie and this happens! Be still, my beating heart!
As for the media, isn't it the same here in the US when someone divorces? I wouldn't take anything in the tabloids seriously. |

"Ayumi Hamasaki ******** earthquake cut 380 days short-lived marriage" as someone translated it.
http://tw.nextmedia.com/applenews/ar...sueID/20120118 Media don't seem to let it go, check what picture of Manuel they included, of course the 'spread leg' one from the 'private' book <_<

Im not home so i cant post any examples, but basically they are criticising her reason for divorce, which doesnt sound bad to you guys but actually they are shaming her for using the earthquake as the reason. Obviously they didnt read all the message ayu wrote, because they keep saying ayu divorced because of the earthquake, not because her husband didnt want to move to japan, etc. So they are criticising her believability. So mannnny people are sending her hate messages like japan doesnt need you, go live in america, or who asked for your help anyways from a survivor of tohoku earthquake. She only meant to do good, but they are turning her words against her.
It was also the first time in years which she made it to yahoo front page. And also, many people are seeing mannie in a good light which he didnt do anything wrong, and ,one yahoo news article even says that mannies tweets are ,profound about the situation, some tweet about only pessimists see the bad in every situation or something. Its kind of sad. |

I don't really understand. It's not that hard to read into her words. Her vision for the future changed, and she couldn't keep the promise to Mannie to live in America. Mannie, likewise, couldn't give up his vision to make it in Hollywood, so they ended up at a stalemate. She's not using the Earthquake as an excuse, she's just saying she feels the need to stay in Japan now. Why are people attacking her over this?
I think Ayu did the right thing, to be honest. I like Mannie, and I thought they were cute together, but she should be with someone who wants to live on the same path as her. I can't believe people are criticizing her for that. She's already got enough on her plate right now. Maybe she did fall out of love, but ending a relationship is rough, and my heart goes out to her. Here's the Yahoo article: http://dailynews.yahoo.co.jp/fc/ente...mi/?1326796116
The last sentence says something about there being rumors of another lover flying around.

The Japanese handle divorce differently than North America, I would think. In NA "any publicity is good publicity" more or less. Lindsay Lohan's current career is based on her doing drugs and being a hot mess, where as Japanese singer SHION's career ended when she was caught with drugs. Cultural differences. Single mothers are more taboo in Japan, no?

Right, "Ayu haven't her Japan's marriage registered. So, on paper, she have been single in Japan."

But the Japanese do look downward on divorce.. Ive said this before... Namie's career had a blacklash because of the single mother thing and being divorced... but she bounced back... Maybe this is what Ayu needs to infusion her music and become a better artists? |

I'm sorry, but her credibility IS an issue.
Of course what she said isn't going to be the whole story, but as long as she doesn't say more, and what she said has the possibility of being in question, they're going to make it sound however they want. The media is not "people" either, it's a business If it's going to sell, they're gonna sell it. imo there's a lot of stuff that's fishy about this whole thing...and well, take our speculation, and multiply it by like 1000, and there you have what's gonna happen in the media.

Lindsay Lohan doesn't have much of a career anymore, though. Whenever she's mentioned in the news, it's just to gossip about what ridiculous thing she's done now. That isn't a career. Miley Cyrus also got caught smoking pot. What's she been doing since she left Disney, anyway?
But I digress. There's no point in comparing Ayu to either of these people because this is a different situation. She's following her heart and freeing herself from a relationship she no longer wants to be in. I don't see any problem with that. |

I find that with situations like divorce in Japan there is harsh criticism and backlash, where the celebrity might have to take some time off and do stuff to make people like them again. In North America, people gossip and giggle about it, but that's about it.

Nice find tasking, I don't know about google translate, but I used BING and it read clearly. And I think Emiko is right about the credibility thing. It sounds like Ayu just sent a message typed up by an Avex publicist. I don't think there was ever any intent to move to the US, cause one of those real estate agents I'm pretty sure is Stanley's sister and had nothing to do with her looking for a home. He's flown from Hawaii to visit her before while Ayu was in Japan.

Why does the reason matter? Even if there's a reason that we're not being told, It's Ayu's prerogative to tell us or not. Maybe when she was in the infatuation stage of the relationship, she did make a promise to stay in the US. It's entirely plausible but there's really no point in speculating because either way, Ayu is probably hurting right now.
