Wow... *revives thread* I shared this on twitter last night.. So I'll share the news here!

Kim Hyun Joong has been gaining quite the momentum in Japan, and to add to it, he has just completed his project with the popular Japanese group, B’z.

Key East revealed on May 1st, “Kim Hyun Joong received a song titled ‘Heat’ from the nationally loved Japanese musicians, B’z, and has finished recording. ‘Heat’ will be included in his second single album that will be released in Japan in July.”

This comes after the news of the singer picking B’z as the Japanese musician he likes the most during a press conference before his Japan tour last year. Through Universal Music, Kim Hyung Joong put in a request for a song, and B’z gladly accepted his request.

“It’s an honor to be able to work with the Japanese musician I’ve always liked”, Kim Hyun Joong commented. “During the recording of ‘Heat’, the B’z members gave me advice, and I was able to enjoy the recording session thanks to them. I will greet everyone with a high quality album, so please anticipate it.”

In related news, Kim Hyun Joong is currently preparing for his ‘Kim Hyun Joon Fan Meeting Tour 2012′, which will take place in various cities across Asia, as well as considering various casting offers for his acting career.

B’z guitarist Matsumoto Takahiro to release new solo album



Matsumoto Takahiro (B’z) has revealed that he will be releasing his solo album, ‘Strings Of My Soul‘, on June 20th.

This will be Matsumoto’s first album since ‘TAKE YOUR PICK‘, a collaboration album with Larry Carlton which was released in June of 2010. Under his solo name, this will be his first album since ‘Hana‘, which came out back in February of 2002.

‘Strings Of My Soul’ will feature a total of 13 tracks including “#1090 Sen Mu Ichiya“, the ending theme for TV Asahi’s ‘Music Station‘, along with his popular solo hits “Koi Uta” and “Hana“. It will also contain a new song called “Live Life” and a cover song, “SUKIYAKI featuring LARRY CARLTON“.

The limited edition version of the single will come with a 62-minute DVD with 5 PVs, Matsumoto’s solo performances from B’z LIVE-GYM, and footage from his collaboration live with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra in July of 2004.

popular rock band, B'z have achieved their 8th consecutive no.1 music-DVD with "B'z LIVE-GYM 2011-C'mon-", released for the first time since a year and 10 months ago. With this 8th consecutive no.1 DVD, they have surpassed Arashi's record of 7 consecutive no.1 DVD. This DVD is also no.1 in the overall DVD chart. Simultaneously, the Blu-Ray version of the DVD has achieved the top spot in the Blu-Ray chart with 55,681 copies sold. This surpasses the record made by Kanjani8 in March this year with "KANJANI∞ Go-dai Dome TOUR EIGHTxEIGHTER Omonnakattara Dome Suimasen" (which sold 44k in the first week) as the highest-selling Blu-Ray Disc in the first week so far for male artists. With this, this work has the DVD+BD total of 108,690 copies.

B’z consecutively tops eight of their live DVDs



On the Oricon Weekly DVD Ranking for June 11, the live DVD of popular band B’z, ‘B’z LIVE-GYM 2011 – C’mon-’ (released on May 30), topped the ranking for this week with its first week sales of 53,000 copies. This new record now marks their 8th consecutive DVD, and B’z is now the only artist to hold this record with Arashi trailing behind.

The Blu-ray Disc (BD) version of this live concert also topped the weekly BD ranking, selling 56,000 copies in the first week. Kanjani8 previously held the top record after selling 44,000 copies with the March 2012 release of their DVD ‘KANJANI8 Godai Dome TOUR EIGHT X EIGHTER Omonnakkatara Dome Suimasen’. Now, with the release of B’z’s DVD, B’z is currently the best selling male artist of BD DVDs.

This live DVD includes the concert from their Miyagi prefecture concert, which took place September of last year, and contains their performance of 22 hit songs, including their live performance of “Itsuka no Merry Christmas”. Though “Itsuka no Merry Christmas” has been performed many times during live concerts, this will be the first time it’s being included in a DVD/BD.
