There's nothing wrong with cheesy dubstep/drum'n'bass or trashy music. As long as it's GOOD like Namie's FEEL album. Feel the love/Merry-go-round are simply not good. Non of her recent music has been GOOD, regardless of the genre.

Just look at Sparkle, Real me, Connected; she's always experimented with genres and those sound great.

I hope she does what makes her happy. Its her career. Fans can say whatever the fuck they want, but at the end of the day, she has to make herself happy.

I love the fact that she's still making music. Outdated or in trend or whatever, all I hope is that she'll continue writing good lyrics. Just that is fine with me, I'm happy Ayu is still making music. And I have really high hopes for this next album, if it doesn't satisfy me then well I'll always have her old works to listen to

Even though I've had my long break from her (and AHS) I still occasionally have listened to her music. Truth is my mind has been occupied with different music during year 2014. It doesn't mean I have completely given up on Ayu. I'm extremely excited she's releasing a new album!

Agreed with that also. Except not only that, I'm very busy at school, and I lost my iPod earlier this year, which is limiting my music storage to my 32GB iPhone, and 32GB isn't really enough...

1TB? I've got, like, nearly 5TB of data on my desktop computer!

I felt her songs were more impactful and heartfelt. I could remember every song and title just listening to it. Now the songs are not memorable and forgettable. I don't even remember most of her songs now - although I'd still buy the albums.

Usually I dont even remember what's the title of the song when it pops up on my IPOD because I have the habit of putting the entire album into my ipod to listen to the songs.

Hope the future albums don't disappoint :x

I don't listen to Ayu anymore which surprises me because she was the only pop singer I listened to for a while. I'm still going to hear her new album to at least experience Pray again because it's a fantastic ballad.

It's her vocals. I never cared for her image. I always thought she looked like a clown with all that make-up and hair color but did not affect my opinion of her music one bit. After listening to several great singers from the UK (Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Adele - I like her voice, actually) I started to shift my attention away from Ayu. Of course, she steam rolls everyone with her lyrics, but at this point I want to listen to a beautiful voice.

I think she learned her lesson. She needs to take good care of her voice, 'cause that was indeed a big crisis back in 2009 (and to me she wasn't stable again until fall of 2012). Of course, she has the ear problem too, so she has to work extra hard.
That's why I'm so grateful for the vocals in LOVE again, I found them so much better.

Her voice really was better in the past. Listening to 2003-2006 compared to now... wow. She can sing HANABI in 2003 with SO much power compared to 2008, idk what happened.

Well, it basically deteriorated. I'm sure we can be more scientific here but she wasn't exactly taking care of it and her singing technique wasn't perfect from the beginning. And then we had what you witness in 2008 lol.

Sad life. She's been trying to improve since then. It has. 2009 needed help. It was a crisis lol.

I don't want to get too scientific either, but she's the only singer I know whose voice has literally deteriorated so quickly over the span of a few years lol.

What was that CDL that opened with t2m? Omg she was off-key half the concert. XD

That's Countdown Live 2007–2008 Anniversary, that's the disaster era I was referring to. Many TV performances of that time were also off-key. I guess the solely reason was her increasing hearing problems.

I think she doesn't lack power now, it's the opposite -she tends to scream too often instead of singing softly. But I think she did improve in terms of staying in key compared to the disaster era of her ear problems. I hope she'll continue improving and stop shouting and forcing her voice.

^Agree about 2009, her voice is one of the reason I didn't enjoy AT09 as much as she sounded rather dry

Hm. The "talkin' 2 myself" era was rough and unsual edgy for a pop singer. I think it was a terrific time in terms of vocals and appearance. Far from being a disaster. On the other hand, these opinions acknowledge my assumption that it was rough and unusal, indeed

Truth be told, I always prefer the pre-GUILTY vocals. A Song for XX to Secret, to be exact. For some reason, GUILTY takes a special place in it though, because it's the only album to this day, that I would not have liked to have these notorious, bright and high-pitched vocals of Ayu. "glitter" functions as a short break for taking a deep breath before the depressive mood continues with "MY ALL". I always found that so funny.

Oh yeah that one haha. untitled ~for her~ looool. She was crying but still.

Totally into her music again lately, I just pray she makes her next concert normal. She's had a freakshow for 3 years now, if I want to see one of those I'll go to G-A-Y in London on a Thursday.

Even though Ayu has improved much vocally, I still feel she can do better.

She's still a bit screamish, her phrases are short and by now her vibrato is so manufactured, unpleasant and disconnected she sounds a lot better if she just ditches it.

It's okay Ayu, you can sing in a straight tone, you probably can stretch your phrases longer. When you're good and comfortable with that the vibrato will come... hahaha I'm giving a vocal advice to a professional singer.
