Anna Tsuchiya's 2 Million Yen Court Settlement Rejected By Tomoaki Kai

Anna Tsuchiya's 2 million Yen settlement offer to playwright Tomoaki Kai was rejected by the plaintiff.

On December 15, oral arguments were presented at the Tokyo Ditrict Court in Kai's case against Tsuchiya. While Tsuchiya does not agree to the claims made against her by Kai, the singer was willing to pay him 2 million Yen for the trouble she caused.

Kai reportedly "wanted to accept" Tsuchiya's settlement offer, but was forced to reject it, calling the offer "unacceptable". "It's a matter of honour, not a matter of money," Kai stated.

Kai sued Tsuchiya for 30 million Yen after the singer backed out of his play "Kiseki no Singer". The play is based on the life of Asami Hamada, a Japanese singer know for calling herself the "worst singer in Japan". Tsuchiya was supposed to play the lead character, but backed out when she found it he did not get Hamada's official approval to do the play.

Kai has claimed that Tsuchiya showed no motivation to do the play and never even bothered to learn her lines.

Tsuchiya and Kai will be returning to courts on January 26. Actors from the play are expected to appear as witnesses in the case.

I'll try to explain the whole story, since this article is super incomplete lol (but I'm not an expert because all the articles I read about this were in Japanese and I don't know if I got it right)

Anna was going to play the lead role on a musical last year, "Chikai Kiseki no Singer". The musical was about Asami Hamada's life, a singer who suffers some motor disease (or a syndrome, I'm not sure).

After the first rehearsal (which Anna attended), there was an event in which Anna and the rest of the cast sang the songs of the roleplay. Hamada was invited to this event, and she told Anna that the roleplay wasn't faithful to the real story. Hamada asked Anna if she could speak to the director (Tomoaki Kai) to change the script and Anna said she would help her.

Apparently, Anna talked to the director but he said he wasn't going to change anything so Anna decided to just skip the rehearsals and quit the roleplay.

So the thing is, the director (obviously) lost a lot of money because of Anna, and he denounced Anna. And he wants Anna to pay 30 million yen, but Anna said she was sorry for causing trouble, that she will pay 2 million yen but not 30 because that's a lot and she was defending Hamada.

Not defending Anna, but portraying someone and not respecting their wishes is just wrong and I'll stick with Anna for trying to fight this. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to just leave while being under contract and all, but still.

Even if Anna wants to bail out of a Play , she should have done it in a professional manner

Skipping rehearsals & eventually not turning up for them isn't the way to go

I'm not sure what're the terms & conditions stipulated in her contract but if there're compensation fees involved , she should have discussed with the director

From the way I see it , I'm not surprised the director's unhappy & the compensation amount Anna offered to him ain't all that either

Actually, the director wrote on the play website a message just saying that Anna didn't attend the rehearsals just because she didn't want to, that she's such an irresponsible person, that she didn't care about the play blah blah blah...

After that, Anna's mom wrote a message on Anna's website, explaining that they were all surprised with those accusations. I'm not sure because it was like a year ago, but I think Anna's mom said they told the director that Anna didn't want to play the lead role anymore, and that she was really sorry for causing trouble.

Of course after this, all the media believed the director and they were talking sh*t about Anna, so then Asami Hamada updated her blog explaining the whole story, that the reason why Anna quitted the musical was because the director wrote a story that wasn't true and well, all the things I've said before.

So, of course Anna's way to quit the play was unprofesional, that's why she made a public apology and offered to pay 2 million yen. But I read somewhere this is not the first time this man goes to trial for something like this. I mean, it wasn't the first time he wrote a play full of lies and bullshit.

Even if Anna's "solution" wasn't the best (or legal xD) I think that what she did was something that not everyone would have the guts to do, defending Hamada and risking going to trial to defend someone's rights... I think that, if Anna would have quitted the play legally, this man would have simply picked up another actress and go on with the play...

Anyway, we just know what the press knows, so I guess we're missing a lot of things. And since I don't believe Anna is someone irresponsible, but someone who acts and says what she thinks it's right, despite what others may think of her, I will support her!!

Plus, that man looks like a member of some mafia and Anna is an angel xDDDDDD
