^ Ultra Blue didn't break 1 million (in Japan) did it? I thought it was like 900K in Japan, and then like 1.3 million globally.

Fantôme is #1 for a 4th consecutive week on Oricon’s album chart, selling 46K additional units!

It is the first original album in over 8.5 years to chart 4 consecutive weeks on Oricon’s at #1 on album chart (since Kobukuro’s “5296”)

^ So, Hikki needs to sell around 190,000 before the end of November to become #2 yearly. I wonder if this is even possible...She would have to do 40,000 to 50,000 for the next 4 weeks. I feel #3 has already been decided. I'm kind of disappointed but I hope I get surprised at the end of the year.

(I wonder if there's a slight chance that Arashi's album will underperform and end up selling 500,000 overall... I HOPE SO!! )

I don't really know. Their albums usually sold over 600K on the first week, with the exception of last year, which was over 800K on the first week (and over a million copies overall). I doubt even Sandaime can even compete with Arashi.

But think in this way, she's only beaten by two boy band/group (one is really popular right now, the other one has a huge fanbase). It's not that bad.

^you're are right. Utah did a great job - and I really think she did not expect it herself. Maybe it gives her juice to do more music.

^^ Also we could still say no. 1 solo album and no. 1 female album! Maybe a too huge and different comparison but like Ayu is #3 of Japanese artists. Only beaten by two male bands! She's the no. 1 solo artist and the no. 1 female artist and because of that and the achievement to be in the top 3 no one really cares about it, if you know what I mean! I mean it's impressive enough that she's placed in the top three and as I said to be the no. 1 solo and female artist! SAME with Hikaru Utada's Fantôme! Like, the same with Ayu just not about overall sales but yearly album sales! It's impressive for a female to sell so much nowadays and to make it to the top 3 yearly albums! Like, Namie goes slowly down too and then Hikki is probably the last female artist from the 2000's who can strongly compete with today's artists (though Namie still has great sales imo but I was talking about _genic and the big drop in sales).

^_genic had no promotion and was mostly english. isee your point, but I think namies next album will show her staying-power.
Maybe Utahs sales go up again with a third MV (that may or may not exist)

Just need 34,536 copies to break 500K . I think she will get around 20K this week, so she'll definitely reach the goal on the 7th week.

Manatsu no Tooriame won MTV Japan's Best Video of the Year. The Video also previously picked up the Award for Best Female Video.

There's a video for that song?? Is Hikki in it? Because I can't believe I missed it.

That PV is literally beautiful, like a painting. I don't mind that Hikki is not there at all, because the sceneries matched the feelings and the atmosphere of the song so well.

I've still not seen the Manatsu PV. I was looking the Nijikan Dake no Vacance PV on YouTube and was surprised that her channel didn't have it and that her recent PVs are all the short versions. I watched iton JPopSuki and, it goes without saying, that it's her best PV in years!

Finally getting round to posting my Fantome thoughts (taken a while as I've had a lot of music to listen to recently!). I'm only on my third listen but so far...

*Ore no Kanojo, Tomodachi and Manatsu no Tooriame are my favourites
*My first listen of Nijikan Dake no Vacance made me go "is that it?" but it is a grower!
*The album flows really well and the singles fit perfectly. I love the feel of it and think it could end up in my Top 3 Hikaru albums

Looking forward to seeing what the last PV will be!

I'm also getting FFX vibes from Boukyaku (Wandering Flame to be exact!)

^OMG, got here too late

Anyways, Ningyo was chosen to be the theme song of the exhibition "Old Masters of the State Hermitage Museum". It'll be open on March, 2017.

I feel like Hikki's team were like "We need another tie-in now that Arashi is releasing a new album!!!111!!" and that's what they got.
