That was mean :/. Maybe she's building muscle like back in 2008. Somepeople get chunky before getting lean.

There's nothing wrong in being fat. A body is not something to be ashamed of.

In regards to video... when I posted that Fly High video I had no idea how much Japanese fans were angry at that. One pretty much told me to never come back to a show. It was honest mistake on my part and a lapse in thought, since I'm just used to videos being completely fine at every other concert I've been to.

Regardless, I have a lot of Snapchat videos from the show the opening, Ourselves, Warning, Because of you, interludes, and Fly High that I will upload to mega google for the forum.

Thanks Norrel, that's very kind of you.
I've noticed japanese are very strict about foreigners posting videos of j-music concerts. Not only those recorded with their phones but also from DVDs/bluerays. There is a perfume-fan channel where the user posts mostly perfume videos with subtitles and often there are japanese people attacking him for doing so. Then he (or she, can't tell now) responds with some statement he got from the record label that he can and he has no profit from it.

They just seem overly protective of their idols I suppose. This was my very first Ayu concert and Japanese concert experience as well, and in all honesty, I think the fans may have been the most jarring thing about the whole experience, and unfortunately I don't know if it's just differences between American culture and Japanese culture or what, but I was kind of let down by how stand off-ish people were at this concert. Not just at the concert, but around the arena, everybody was just very stand offish, and perhaps maybe Yokohama people are a bit different from those in Tokyo, but it was really offputting how unfriendly some seemed to be, even though we were all about to see an Ayu concert!

Perhaps someone can shed some perspective?

Yes the concert etiquette is due to the culture like SunshineSlayer explained. In my experiences, the Japanese ayu fans come off more stand offish compared to fans of other artists I've seen. I say this just from what I've observed, though!

Don't let them make you feel too bad- I've seen Japanese fans around me take short videos on few occasions, and this was even before photos were allowed! But obviously if you aren't Japanese they will hold you to a different standard.

uhmmm some people have a weird concept of "fat", I mean, if you think that she looks fat on those videos you have a real mental issue, seriously go see a doctor.

I think the problem is, she is NOT fat, as evidence by all her pictures she posts online. But somehow lately her costumes are such that they are extremely unflattering on her. And I just don't understand how things that are so obviously unflattering are getting put out on stage.

Yokohama people are Tokyo people. And it is a difference in cultures for sure. My boyfriend had the same jarring experience last year. First trip to Japan; first concert was the Ayu TA tour and he was just not used to the orderliness or comparatively sedated nature of the Japanese crowd as compared to American concert crowds.

They enjoy concerts differently. Also, Japanese is a culture of the many, not the individual. So in many ways, because you are a foreigner in their land they have an expectation that you are going to assimilate to their way to at least some extent even if you're just a tourist. So things like filming during the concert or getting hyped and jumping around etc (I don't know what you were doing, lol) is something that makes you stand out from the group. It's just like foreigners coming to America, you know? We at least hope that even though they come from different cultures than us, that they at least put in an effort to follow our traditions and what are acceptable behaviors for us that may be contrary to where they come from.

Japan, especially, is very far behind in terms of accepting cultural differences in general. As I'm sure you can tell from my ramble though, I can see both sides of it.

Like all of us, Ayu only posts photos of herself after carefully choosing the ones where she looks prettier (skinnier, taller, good lighting, flawless).

Obviously that doesn't show her real flawed self. It only shows the side of her that she wants us to see.

Of course she's going to look different in photos taken by other people -- in different angles, without filters or photoshop.

We have a distorted sense of reality because we're so used to seeing manipulated pictures. Nowadays it's not just in ads but in social media. Your ugly mediocre hobo neighbor could be an instagram model star.

I was at the Yokohama concert on 14th may also. I made a lot of short videos but I was too close of the speakers, so that the sound is horrible to hear unfortunetly. I'll post the very short good parts that can be heard...

Can you please post all of them regardless of audio issues? It's still interesting to see.
