Nagase had/has hard time getting over Ayu, too, she was the reason his and Saki Aibu's relationship didn't last. He was about to propose to Ayu too.

I can definitely sympathize with these lyrics, but after so many years I also agree that people change and they may not even be suited for each other at this point in their lives. No one really knows except them.

I agree this could be the æternal one, not just for the lyrics, but it sounds like it could go between WATQ and WORDS.

Yeah...honestly, since Nagase it's felt like she is throwing herself into relationships on blind hope or something. It's kind of felt like running honestly. And maybe she soon realized that no, the grass isn't always greener and maybe she hasn't gotten that same feeling back with any of them that she had with him.

Perhaps it is Nagase on the album cover.
I feel like Ayu has similar love songs like this one so I am not entirely convinced this song is about him but it is a possibility. They were together for quite some time and perhaps she has been looking back these last 20 years.
