Mika's voice overpowered a lot of songs in PORTRAIT ~Piano & Voice~ which's really unfortunate cos I like the covers + melodies in the acoustic songs

1st time I heard the acoustic version of Yuki no Hana , I had to lower the volume slightly cos it was quite jarring @_@

So far the acoustic version of Gift is the only 1 I genuinely like , maybe I will like the rest in time to come :s

It really is unfortunate because I would have bought this release if it hadn't been for this problem in almost every song. I don't know how they could have released this without mixing the songs properly.

I'm listening to Boku ga shinou to omotta no wa (started from the end of the album lmao) and what the FUCK is she doing with her voice???? Some of the vocals are beautiful, two seconds later she sounds distractingly breathy, then next thing you know she's over-emoting the way GACKT does in some of his more annoying live performances.

Someone get this girl a vocal coach, stat

EDIT: DEAR GOD IT JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE I JUST GOT TO THE DON QUIXOTE LINE AND IT SCARED ME SHITLESS

Edit 2: did no one listen to these tracks before they sent this CD to press? how did this happen? who can listen to this and come out with their eardrums intact? these are questions

It's a real pity the songs in PORTRAIT ~Piano & Voice~ ain't as good as what I thought cos the photos accompanying the acoustic album are so beautiful

I had to come to this thread because I finally gave this a listen late last night and was literally shook. Like it made me sad because it really sounds like shes going through it.

I listened to Life first as it's one of my favorite songs and I literally said what the fuck.

I also just dont understand how these recordings got cleared for release the way they are.

I've listened to the album a day ago.
She really sounds painful sometimes.
Doesn't help that the arrangements are so long, too.
I guess they wanted to show her raw voice to emphasize emotion, at least that's the impression I get.

Nakashima Mika's new song "Sairen" will be digitally released on November 22.

"Sairen" is currently being used as the insert song for Fuji TV's drama Tasogare Ryuseigun: Jinsei Orikaeshi, Koi wo shita.' It's a love ballad that portrays the "irresistible destined love" that the women in the drama experience.
