She did warn us 4 years ago that she can't be tamed.

Can't stop, won't stop. Either way, not a fan. If you are going to name drop a musician, at least know her music so she doesn't write you an open letter staying how young and ignorant you are lol.

It would have been better to just say Madonna and keep it moving.

I'm so sick of the prostitution/rape culture in the music industry.
I really can't decide what I should think about Sinead's letter. I would absoluetely agree with your last sentence but then again I think Sinead's opinion isn't well reflected at all and I have to 100% agree on what Andrenekoi said:

Sinead's advice nobody asked for was basically shaming her for acting sexual and showing her body, stating she has mental or drugs issues and calling her stupid. Miley probably got offended and I would feel the same.
There IS a lot of prostitution/rape culture in the music industry. Not because the music industry is evil, but just because the music industry reflects the pop culture and therefore our everyday lifes. Therefore I think we should be sensitive about prostitution/rape culture in our everyday lifes.
But I hate it when women are slut shamed just because for acting sexual. And Sinead lost me when she wrote "Your body is for you and your boyfriend". The sentence should be "Your body is for YOU". Our sexuality is a part of our personality and I think there is nothing wrong expressing it in music or music videos and things like that.
I have to admit that I didn't watched any of Miley's videos or performances. I'm just here because I'm curious about her new album 'cos people really seem to like it. So I can't say if I think she's gone to far by acting sexual or not. But that isn't my point and Sinead seems to understand nothing when she writes "Your body is for you and your boyfriend".
First her body is just for herself and for nobody else, like I said before.
Second if Miley wants to give her body to another girl that's also perfectly fine.
Third if Miley wants to have sex just for fun with somebody she never sees again she can do this if she wants.
That Sinead slut shames her indirectly is anything but cool and this way she also contributes to rape culture.
(and for people wanting to know what exactly rape culture means, I recommend this blog entry)

^I agree with everything you stated. That's the one thing I didn't like about the open letter.

I'm hearing good things about the album. I will check it out on YouTube before committing, I hope that both people involved will learn from this experience and exercise better judgement.

I also have a hard time Sinead is an angel sent from heaven to save Miley BY RELEASING A PUBLIC PASSIVE AGRESSIVE LETTER. If she was concerned with Miley, she could simply had reached her personally.

And I agree the music industry is filled with rape culture, and that is really bad... But it also pisses me off that women are always the one being beaten (even by feminists) on this even if as the main characters of their own personas, they ALWAYS have agency on their releases, while men get free passes. Where are the complaints about Justin Timberlake's tit-fest on Tunnel Fest vision?

That being said... There's something refreshing on the way she is taking off her clothes... It's sexual but not sexy, it's more on the agressive side... And maybe that's why people are so offended.

Exactly my thought. She could have easily wrote her a private letter.

And on this I agree to 120%! I couldn't have said it better!
Nobody ever complains about men using stereotypes of women or even buying them for sex, that's perfectly fine with most people. But women acting sexual are evil!

Andrenekoi I have been reading your comments and I agree with everything you are saying. I watched Miley the Movement and she seemed perfectly normal. Just a girl doing what she has wanted to do forever.

I think she is pouring herself into her work and shes very happy with it. (I read an article saying her record company was scared she was going to leak her album early because she wants her fans to hear it) I mean if she was doing this for the money/pimping herself out/she is sick, she wouldn't have gone searching for a new record company after dropping disneys, She wouldn't have made every creative decision for this album. Her record company would have and she would be a pawn. But I don't think she is. And her mom is with her always!! I mean always watch her documentary. Mom there all the time , and I think her mom is very down to earth and knows when to keep her grounded. Her mom even said in the interview "Miley knows when to separate real life from public eye" So I think she has a good head on her shoulders and you have to remember, she is 21 (almost) and she is becoming herself. Its that time.

Ok.. I think that's it haha. Most people don't even know why I like her but I do. I listened to some of the stream. I am loving ADORE!! You go MILEY!

I don't want to get into this conversion because I feel it has nothing to do with what Miley is doing with her life nor should it reflect the music industry since its not true, but I have to say:

This blog is a HORRIBLE example of what she declares 'rape culture' is and I wouldnt go by some sociopathic view of what SHE thinks it is. Her entire definition is WRONG and she doesn't even seem to understand the actual act of rape at all.

Sorry. Just had to speak my mind about it.

The problem is you obviously don't get what rape and rape culture is. Or you just didn't read the entry properly.
And I just threw it in not because it has anything to do with what Miley is doing but because of the discussion about Sineads open letter.

Loved her SNL. I've heard good and bad about it, but end the end you gotta give her props for poking fun at herself.

Also, while some of her fashion choices haven't always spoken to me, overall I like her new "hip hop" look. I love her hair. Its a nice spin on the tired tend of girls shaving the side of their hair, but keeping the rest long. Its so non-committal. Miley went all the way. And it looks good on her.

I just really appreciate the amount of balls she has for doing what everyone else on earth seemingly disapproves her of doing.. and she worked it!

I went out and bought the deluxe edition from Target. There are four different covers to choose from but someone took the topless one so I just settled for the one that displays in iTunes. Comes with stickers too LOL!

The album is honestly alright. It's not earth-shattering or life-changing, but it was definitely a fun listen. Adore You, Do My Thang, and Maybe You're Right are pretty good. I somewhat like 4x4 as well.

To be honest I'm not impressed at all. The album is only average. It's not bad but it's not good.

01. Adore You: A nice song and as the opener it fits perfect.
02. We Can't Stop: Has potential but something's missing and this male autotuned voice is annoying.
03. SMS (BANGERZ): The best thing about this song is Britney and her part. The song simply doesn't fit Miley and all in all it isn't a good song.
04. 4x4: That one is somehow fun and I like Miley's voice here a lot!
05. My Darlin: It's nice but nothing outstanding and despite the sample of "Stand by me" I can't remember anything about this song.
06. Wrecking Ball: I love it! My favourite from the album! Really a great song!
07. Love Money Party: If someone would put this on in the background I woudn't care but I would never actively listen to this song. It's boring and somehow annoying.
08. #GETITRIGHT: A nice change compared to the rest of the album, but it doesn't safe the song from being boring.
09. Drive: That one is nice, but again only nice and nothing special.
10. FU: A great song, really like that one!!!
11. Do My Thang: Has potential but again only average. After 50 seconds it gets plain annoying.
12. Maybe You're Right: Boring and forgettable.
13. Someone Else: I like that one, it's good.
14. Rooting for My Baby: Boring...
15. On My Own: This one has also potential but leads to nowhere. But her voice is great here.
16. Hands In The Air: Boring... again one of those "dance" songs on the album which doesn't make you want to dance just a little bit.

I give it 4 out of 10 points.

Well the album had to match her image right? Still, she will do very well in the charts I'm assuming.

Even Selena's album is a million times better in every way you can imagine.
