you know what i love? that there's no tabloidy stuff about her anywhere. one of the reasons must be her not having any personal social media accounts. It's awesome when artist does great and there's no dumb rumours going around. tho kinda strange still, knowing Japan lol tho maybe they just like picking up on certain people.

^I actually agree, i don't think i've heard anything about her personal life since i started listening to her, it's really great cause then we can just focus on the music. Ugh, that whole Maro scandal with Ayu was just a mess and ended up being a bigger topic than her mini albums.

A part of me really wants to know more about Namie...but most of my mind actually just loves the fact that her career is all about her music and serious promotion. She sticks to her guns about her private life and still manages to be the top-selling female solo artist - for good reason. I love that Namie has her own style of self-promotion and how she shows her personality, and doesn't bow down to the pressure she must be getting to spill some gossip or do a 'tell-all' interview or something. When other artists have been more open with their private life on Twitter etc (Like Ayu), I've actually found myself losing interest...I'm not really sure why. At first it was exciting, but then I just started wishing that celebrities would start being a bit more refrained about sharing details..

..I feel sorry for celebrities, they really can't win. Anyway, tl;dr: I agree with you, Namie gives off the impression that she wants her music to represent herself and that's more than fine with me

The paparazzi still is scared of Namie after she sued some tabloid a couple of years ago

She's too badass to mess with! Tattoos and ****. She barely even smiles.


But really, Namie's popularity IS interesting. She doesn't even do the big things like Kouhaku.

Maybe they respect her for going up against conventions...but not too much. Like she's got just the right balance, and she's so...just the right kind of fashionable.

Haha yeah! Sometimes i'd love to know as well, but i like when a artist keeps most parts of their life private, it adds some mystery to their persona and work which keeps me interested.
Also, i've had artist say that they are totally different from their "celebrity/artistic" image, which i'm sad to admit actually makes me lose interest sometimes.

They really can't! It's a complicated business.

Yes lol, I had to look up for what it was again and it was back in 2008, after pictures of her son were published in some tabloid... Namie raged and sued them for 22mil yen

Understandable though as Japan has different rules when it comes to paparazzi and stuff. Kind of wish America had those rules as well. So sad to see all these kids of famous people being chased by photographers


She does make it to the tabloids though, when shes dating someone (like that comedian guy), but no one really seems to care... her life is too boring for people to care lmao.

I only really get upset when celebrities' children are chased by the paparazzi, since their children never signed up for any of that.

But yeah, I agree. Her personal life was more discussed back during her initial peak when she got married/announced she was pregnant...etc.
