Can't we just make the negative ayu stuff be concentrated in this thread then? Maybe that will keep it off the rest of the forum.

everything changes.

But has Ayu realoy changed? I mean she's changed her styles, looks, music whatever, but has she herself, inside, really changed? I'm not so sure...

Hmmm...I agree that Ayu seems to have come to terms with herself...maybe this is why people think she's going downhill...Isn't it just horrible, human nature? That in order for humans to be entertained there must be misery? I don't just mean in reference to Ayu, but she is an example.

Why is it that true happiness is boring...yet misery is exciting?

Nevada: what do you mean? Concentrate on Ayu's negative aspects in this thread only?

That is difficult, since there are some of us who don't really think anything is wrong at all...

It's a bit weird how she's really happy, and people don't seem to be enjoying her music nowadays.. >>

It's kind of sad, really.

Yeah, that's how it always is. When you're weird, other's are happy, then you become happy and others are weird.

Say that to the 160,000 buyers of BLUE BIRD .

There's lots of whining about her recent stuff on those boards, but in general I don't think people enjoy her music much less, sales go down, yeah, but that doesn't have to mean people dislike her music.

Looks like this thread is dying out... well i hav been following this thread for quite some time and i am quite surprised that i managed to refrain myself from posting until now...

many people hav been debating bout whether ayu is going downhill bcos they might not like her newer songs but do you all know that her songs actually reflects her thoughts and emotions. what is so special about ayu in the first place is bcos she wrote the lyrics to all her songs and she pens her thoughts into the lyrics... i really encourage people to go find out exactly what she is singing about...

from her first album, a song for xx, to her latest album, (miss)understood, it has been around 8 years. during this time, ayu had grown from a 20 yr old girl, to a 28 yr old woman. so therefore her thoughts and emotions now would not hav been the same as the years before. take for example her very first album a song for xx, which was released when she was 20. in that album she sang about her teenage years, about the uncertainties she faced as well as how lost she was. she also sang about her only good friend in her teenage years as well as her strained relationship with her mother. those were the issues that she faced at that time and she sang them in her songs. but now, roughly 8 years later, she has grown and matured... her emotions and thoughts now as a 28yr old would not have been the same as before, and i think this maturity can really be found in some of her newer songs like born to be, bold & delicious and pride...

this gradual change in her songs are inevitable as ayu goes through the different stages of her life. however being a teenager myself, i must admit that her earlier songs touched me more. this is propably bcos they made me go "hey, thats exactly how i am feeling right now". somehow i jus feel that i can relate to the newer songs a lot less. but i still listen to them nonetheless and i continue to be a big fan of her. and i will remain one until the day she eventually retire.

(ps. i am listening to the album a song for xx as i am typing this post. it still sounds great to me even after so many years. if you don like her new songs, you can always listen back to the old ones. long live ayu!)

^I'm happy you didn't refrain from posting completely because your post is beautiful.

What you say is also very true. Most people who say they dislike her songs immediately as they are released only listen to the sound of the song, that's not always the only thing a song has to give.

I understand them though, there's lots of music I can't stand only because of how it sounds.

Ayumi is making moving from Queen of J pop to normal regular artist she can't stay on top forever we knew it was coming

but i do think her music is getting kinda weak she doesn't have "those" kinda lyrics anymore and it sounds like mindless j-pop

She does have like 116+ songs of material..

Can you write well consistently for each and every song if you were put into the place of Ayu? O_o;

lol. i'm like the exact opposite. i like her recent stuff better than her earlier stuff. Her missunderstood album is one of my favorites..along with the my story album. plus i loved Pride. the video sucked but i loved the song.

i respect ur opinion tho. i'm pretty sure other ppl out there feels the same.

Well people have different opinions on Ayumi's recent stuff. I personally like her older stuff, while others like adore songs she's been putting out recently.

So it depends on who you're asking...

And TrueHappiness, dont get all pissy at me. Thanks.

I think the debate is settled for now, everything has been said sort of, at least untill the release of her next album when we will have some new sales numbers, promotion campaigns, etc. etc. to base out theories on.
