I also think you were sounds much more happier sounding than dearest or Together When... they're more melancholic.

I listened to the preview earlier and it was completley amazing!!

thank you for the preview! I like it, not "love" it just yet, but i think it'll grow on me.
the verses are amazing! they're even more amazing than the chorus IMHO
then again I'm gonna have to wait until the full HQ version comes out, which isn't likely gonna come soon.

In my opinion, a lot of Ayu's older ballads are overrated. M included. They're all nice and they're classics, but I never listen to them. I prefer the likes of HEAVEN, Together When..., JEWEL, No way to say etc. To me, they are FAR superior to Dearest and even M (which I don't really even consider a ballad to be honest so maybe that's why). You were... is shaping up to be what I consider one of Ayu's best ballads.

It looks like no. Very surprising considering she has been on it every year. They don't list another artist update on the site. Something even more shocking occurred for me though - NOKKO is going to be on - that was way the heck out of left field.

M and Dearest are untouchable imo. But I don't expect post-Memorial adress ayu to sound like anything pre-Ma. On the contrary however, it reminds me of powder snow.

You were... sounds ok so far. I prefer her less melodramatic ballads like Days...

I think M is great, and I'm sure a large majority of other fans do as well. But I don't think it should be the standard of "great Ayu music." I'm so sick of people saying, "Oh this song is great, but it's no Dearest," or "Gosh why can't Ayu make more songs like M" for comparison. They're not THAT great. She has a large body of work and has far more interesting songs outside of some her more notable singles, at least in my opinion. And even now, I'm listening to M and I can already think of a song I find more interesting than this one.

What a nice song...I can't wait until we can see her perform this live ! It feels as if it's being sung by a person who's grasping onto the last glimpse of hope over Christmas. Hopefully she makes it into the FNS list...
