Thoughts on Alterna PV - Page 11

song: ownage

video: weird as hell

opinions: not bothering to study/analyize a video about media or w/e its an ayumi pv that lasts for only like 5min. back when i was waaay too much into her yeah i'd spend my poopy life wondering about meaningsto everything

but thanks to more superior nerdage/nerd power (diablo 2 LOD and starcrfat brood war) and a firmly grasped social life, i no longer have time to spend with my ayumi stuff. her recent things are definately getting better but in alterna her voice is too electronic and please please dont say because its suppose to sound like that cuz of the video, i dont think most artists base their songs around the PV since they get their money thru listeners and viewers but how much do you watch music vs listen.

anyway her stuff is getting too electronic but it still sounds fine, however if i wanted to hear electronics, i listen to tiesto and ferry corsten and so on

back on topic, groovy ayumi is good... again

back to owning noobs on d2

How awkward. I was watching the beginning and some other parts..and there's that random 'fan' there. Could that possibly be a representation of 'fans' being present in Ayu's life? Then again, I could always be overanalyzing..

I think the fan part is still a bit unclear (maybe it's just a decorative element), because the first few seconds of the PV are missing. The clip we got, begins after the artist/song pop-up disappears, which is usually about 10s or so into the video.

k there could and couldnt be meaning to it

is there meaning to war of the worlds? or does rachel screaming every 2min mean something else? or maybe why the lightning bolts are pink, theres got to be a reason why they are pink and not blue right?

err.. I don't like the song and the video at all.. especially the part where she has the eyeball in her mouth. pretty disturbing..

None of us works for Ayu, so NONE OF US can say 'it's just a PV it has no meaning' or 'ayu means it this way in the pv!' and how can anyone be so sure that it's 'just a pv'? are you saying Ayu has no depth? I don't think she takes her career so lightly - refer to how max said that she doesn't half-ass anything

Exactly. Certainly there's not always a reason for every tiny little detail, but I've noticed - at least for Ayu - that some of the bigger details often mean something, usually to get the point of the song further across. I too think she takes her music seriously enough to at least help put some thought into her PVs other than simply random scenes... which can end up either strangely amusing, kind of stupid... or very boring.

If we feel like analyzing it, great. For anyone who doesn't - carry on. =)

not liking the PV. especially the clowns part.

I ALWAYS hate clowns. this time too. The video itself is good, but.........

And the part when she had an eyeball. Ewww~

the song itself is GREAT. REALLY GREAT.

gratz for ayu for making such a great song.

and i'd say "no comment" for the PV....

The best pv in a long time, although sometimes it looked a bit silly. This pv is similar to ourselves, but different. I like it.

i have to say this pv is really great!! ayu is really honest to herself and to everybody.. such a pv with great meaning.. really which artiste will really admit that they will one day be at the bottom and no longer at the top...
this pv is really great! though it is kind of weird but its real good love it and the music is really different.. not a very common type of jpop music... deliciously unique!
and ayu in white really reminds me of that lady who often wears white and have her dress being blown out from the bottom and she always has her hands to put her skirt down.. i dont know her name.. but ayu really reminds me of her instead of madonna.. and i dont think that ayu is becoming rebellious or something.. it is just that she is becoming more brave to try new things and face changes... and i really hope to see ayu in more and more different styles.. really.. all that cutesy ayu is boring man esp on pvs and leave that to the concert live performances...

This is the most beautiful PV she has ever produced. We need more stuff like this in the world. Brutal Honesty is so evident here, and so unforgiving. The strings using everyone, the clowns representing profit-motivated companies, the copy machine trying to replace the original..wonderful. How can you guys hate it for being wierd? She's being honest and true to herself, like she always wanted to be. She realizes that she's accomplished so much but it will all fall apart at the end. The song itself is great---The guitar is wonderful (Although it didn't have as much influence as is this LOVE? which sucks) My favorite part of the whole song is each time after the chorus, the "hey...hey hey hey hey...." the guitar shines here and makes for a catchy tune. Let me also say that the song fits the PV so well.

One of her finest works. Her pop style may be getting worse from her I Am.. days but her style in rock is getting so much better, and she is maturing as a person which is what I like to see in people. Better then my expectations, and this song is why I continue to listen to Hamasaki.

Wow very well said indeed. I do agree with all the points you have mentioned. I do think Ayu is trying her best to be true to herself as you have mentioned.

i find this video kinda odd........... like the plot seems a bit strange.... is she trying to say that shes been turned into a singing machine???? maybe im thinking too much !! but i think the parts when shes painted white reminds me of some Madonna video for some reason........ i dont think im the only one that has noticed that....

lol you're not alone. Doesn't Hikki have an album cover in which she is covered in flour as well? Hehe it's a cool design

I don't know if she's trying to say she's been turned into a singing machines, so much as she feels some groups (again, the industry, fans and/or media) sometimes see her that way.

It's also I think referring to the years of 2000-2001 where she really was a "singing machine" putting out singles at an alarming rate (due to the pressure of Avex to keep their profits on the rise) and at one point appeared on over 40 magazine covers in, I believe, only 1 month! Also this was the time when the A Best album was released without her full support. She was quoted at that time as saying that that was when she realized that "Hamasaki Ayumi" was no longer a person, but a product. I think that time period of her life is what the singing machine scene refers to, as well as the article headline "almost human."

Yeah, probably the reason why Ayu is crying on the A Best cover
