Actually Ayu was acting pretty well. If you watch romance Japanese doramas, you will notice that she follows the ideal formula of a girl in love but who is trying to hold back her emotions. The wide eyed staring is frequent in female dorama actors who I guess are trying to convey their emotions with their eyes.

I agree

I'm very happy with this pv (coz I've been hoping this year's summer song pv won't be another summer beach happy dancing video...like we've been having few years straight)

Saw it again. HELLA cheezy, but I loved every moment of it.

I'm a romantic, and a sucker for these kind of stories.

Only complaint, seriously, when the glass if falling, the way he's "protecting" her it's not really going to work.

I liked the PV more than I thought I would.
Upon seeing the preview pics, I wasn't really that crazy over them. However, the final product turned out really great. I'm anticipating the short movie version.

It seems more like it's because she has such huge eyes.. XDD

Normal people probably wouldn't come across as a deer-stuck-in-headlights.. XDD

I expect fated to fit the PV/clipshow it gets 100% more than glitter did for it's PV..
The story is just begging to be told D:~

Okay, I've seemed to accept the fact that the PV is really a trailer of sorts for the movie, and so I'm no longer yearning to see Ayu sing along with the lyrics and bust out in dance moves. :p Now I'm actually starting to like it. A lot. It's a really cute story.

The simple fact that it isn't a "beach PV" doesn't make it awesome / negate all criticism. If you're eating Cheerios for breakfast every day, and you get sick of them, but then one day someone serves you Fruit Loops, yeah it's nice to have a change, but maybe you don't like Fruit Loops very much, and your dislike for Fruit Loops has no connection to your feelings about Cheerios. No one is gonna be like, "this isn't Cheerios, so I have NO COMPLAINTS!"

Anyway....I thought the PV was cute, and it made me smile / giggle at times. Sometimes it was overdramatic, but I'm used to seeing that in Ayu PVs. I loved Shawn's facial expressions. But I think Ayu had too much makeup, and I got sick of her big-eyed, "save me" looks.

Also, I found it a little offensive that she kept running from adoring fans as if they were wild dogs. The scene where she fled from the girls with signs that read "I <3 Ayu" was just sad. I feel this PV had a more arrogant tone than "Dearest" which dealt with the similar subject of fame. At least in Dearest, she was fleeing from paparazzi and her suffocating wall of bodyguards.

I also agree with this. That scene where she runs away from the fans as if they were going to eat her, kinda rubs me the wrong way. Just in general though, I hate when artists do "woah is me" videos. Boo Hoo. At least in Dearest it was her own staff she was running from, and it seemed like the fans and regular ordinary people were her salvation. In Glitter it's the other way around.

Well, some fans just don't know the limit of obsession. And those kind of fans are what she's trying to run away from. You can't expect her to understand every single fans "Oh you're not that kind of fans, I LOVE YOU then, come to me I'll give you autograph."

I heard incidences of crazy fans...

Like this woman who actually broke into Brad Pitt's house and slept in his bed and convinced that she was married to him... O_O

Dearest amused me with the fact that little Ayu in three inch heels were able to outrun her tall bodyguards. It just amused me.

Haha, yes I know, I'm a big dorama addict However, with Ayu it just didn't look...right. For example, in Hana Yori Dango, whenever Inoue Mao looks at Matsumoto Jun like that, it feels like I'M feeling what SHE's feeling right at the moment, you know? There's a difference between conveying feelings with your eyes and simply going like this: O___O. But it's just a matter of opinion I guess. What truehappiness said is partially true, though. Maybe it just looks so deer in the headlights-esque because Ayu's eyes are so freaking huge XD

Yeah, but at the time of the shooting the dude wasn't a fan anymore. He felt that Lennon, who was formally an idol for being oneself admist a conformist society, had "sold out" by allowing himself to be commercialized or whatever. Chapman was a big fan of "Catcher in the Rye", where you'll recall that Holden was mad at his brother D.B. since D.B. apparently "h0r-d" out his talents in Hollywood.

But I digress. I don't know if that is the kind of statement Ayu is trying to make, but I doubt it. It seems to me like she's just expressing that she hates being chased down by the paps--and who wouldn't? :p I don't think it's necessarily disrespecting the fans...I saw it more as she was running from the CAMERAS rather than the fans. Then again, some fans had cameras...XD; Okay, she was running from the PAPARAZZI with cameras.

I think that in this case, it was meant to purely have an effect on the story, rather than be a part of the story itself. [the fans.]

They probably just looked for an easy way to have her and him running off together/alone... and they turned to the fans. After all, Ayu is playing "herself" in a way, but in some ways.. not really. [aka how she usually treats fans]~

It was probably much too hard to flesh out TOO much, since there wasn't exactly that much time to develop too much story. Quick, simpe, easy to understand story events would move everything along much faster than complicated-scenes-that-don't-really-mean-anything-in-the-first-place. D:

Yup I agree. Wow, I had to spend quite some time reading through this whole thread to see where the discussion went.

I think with fans comes paparazzi. Well, the artistes love the fans, but hate the paparazzi. I don't Ayu was trying to shun her fans, she was trying to shun the media coupled with all the negativity in the tabloids they were potraying her in. (And it was indeed true that with the Eason incident and the whole "Ayu parties like crazy and shows her bra" that the Hong Kong tabloids are putting her in some sort of a difficult situation. As they do always with claims of her getting STDs, breaking up with Nagase etc.)

I'm surprised the music fit in rather well, and Ayu seemed more like a normal person than she was portrayed in Dearest. I think certain artistes do in fact shy away from crowds, they're introverts and don't like it when there are a lot of people around them. Ok, though we know the Ayu in real life isn't anything like that, her portrayal of herself in the movie IS like that.

it was OK but i think glitter is just an awful song to put to this movie. fated should have been the main single and glitte should have been a Bside, and a new A side to acoimpany fated shoudl have been made.

Well, that's not how it happened, so I guess you'll have to deal with the amazingness of glitter. D:
