On January 3, Fuji TV aired the first broadcast of its new variety programme 'VS Damashii' hosted by Aiba Masaki (Arashi).

During this broadcast, it was revealed that Kazama Shunsuke, Sato Shori (Sexy Zone), Fujii Ryusei (Johnny's WEST), Kishi Yuta (King & Prince), and Ukisho Hidaka (Bi Shounen / Johnny's Jr.) will be appearing on the programme as regular members.

‘VS Damashii’ took over Arashi’s popular game variety programme ‘VS Arashi’ which ended on December 24. Similar to 'VS Arashi,' the six members will compete against various guest in each episode. On the regular members, Aiba commented, "I'm looking forward to how my fresh juniors will carry out their activities. I have high expectations!"

Aiba Masaki misses recording for 'VS Damashii' due to poor health

On January 4th, Johnny's & Associates announced that Aiba Masaki missed the recording for the January 14th and 21st broadcasts of his regular program 'VS Damashii' due to his poor health.

On January 3rd, Aiba made a live appearance on the first episode of 'VS Damashii' which was a three-hour live broadcast special. Later that night until the next morning, he wasn't feeling well so he took the PCR test. The result came back negative, but he decided to be absent from the programme recording on the 4th as he felt fatigued and had a low-grade fever.

As such, Ninomiya Kazunari will be the stand-in for the programme's January 14th broadcast, and Murakami Shingo for its January 21st broadcast.

Ninomiya Kazunari to host Fuji TV variety special 'Ninomiyanchi' on January 3

Fuji TV's variety special 'Ninomiyanchi' hosted by Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari will air on January 3rd from 4:15 pm.

Every January 3rd from 2017 to 2020, Fuji TV aired 'Aratsubo' starring the five members of Arashi. For this programme, the members investigated "things that haven't been ranked by anybody" around the world and came up with the ranking themselves. The members then talked about those rankings.

In 'Ninomiyanchi,' which will take over 'Aratsubo,' Ninomiya will serve as the "landlord" of a traditional Japanese-style house called 'Ninomiyanchi.' He will talk and play games with guests that visit the "house." The programme will also continue the "things that haven't been ranked by anybody" segment from 'Aratsubo.'

The program's chief producer Matsumoto Yuki commented, "As Ninomiya-san's name will be included in the programme's title, the program will be fully operated by Ninomiya-san himself. He was not passive rather, he directed all segments of the program. We believe the content is very appropriate for the New Year, so it would make us happy if you would enjoy the show along with a new side of Ninomiya-san."

Ninomiya Kazunari reported to become a father this spring

It's been reported that Ninomiya Kazunari will become a father this spring.

The news was published on the January 14th issue of gossip magazine 'Josei Seven.' According to someone close to Ninomiya's wife, the two have been slowly telling people around them since entering her second trimester. His wife has also been spotted walking around last December with a big belly.

Ninomiya and his wife tied the knot last November after dating for about four years. Apparently, the couple learned about the pregnancy around summertime, and since then, they have been staying home as much as possible due to the pandemic.
