But there is no doubt that trance is one of THE MOST (if not THE MOST) emotional types of music out there.

I understand if you meant to put that statement toward house music (exactly why I don't like house - no emotion), but as far as electronic dance music in general you have it all wrong. Trance can be sexy too - in fact, eerie, sexy, bad ass trance is my favorite kind!

You can't tell me that track is not sexy - the way it enters at 1:40 and creeps in at 1:49, then the beat kicks in shortly after. This song was originally mistagged as "Embrace Yourself" when I first heard it and I am not lying, I got aroused listening to it. Lol!

I could post a lot of emotional trance songs, some of the most emotional having no words at all and I feel those are the most powerful in terms of expressing emotion - when it does it so well with melody and production alone.
While I agree with you that EDM is full of emotions and feeling, I strongly disagree that House doesn't have any emotion. There's plenty of house that has emotion in it, just maybe in a different way than trance.

For example, a lot of Fred Falke's remixes are brimming with emotion, like his remix of One Republic's All The Right Moves. When I hear it, I feel so much joy from it as well as so much other emotions and special feelings that I can't even begin to describe.

Also listen to his remix of Burns - First Move feat. Seb

The melodies and the production has so much sadness and melancholy in them. I feel it speaking straight to my heart.

Here's another very expressive house remix of Kelis - Fireworks by Richard X (for some reason it's pitched up from the normal pitch). It's a very sensual remix full of feeling.

yep house have different king of expressions...funk,under,melodic with an emotional touch...
i don't think that House doesn't have any emotion..i just said that trance is too emotional, is like emotional in a melancholic way

house and trance work in different ways...and sometimes don't fits really well on ayumi songs

try to turn a lullaby song like "Voyage" into a House hit..is an impossible work
or listening "boys and girl" trance remix and feel that the vocal track is not ruining the remix is more difficult too

and talking about ayu remixes

i think the japaneses are not good doing dance or trance remixes
maybe ayu have a lot of great trance remixes because almost all the guys into ayu-trance project are europeans
different with her dance/house remixes.... sometimes is very hard try to find just ONE excellent japanese dance/house remix in ayu-mi-x versions
(Daishi Dance, some DMX works and CMJK... that's all)

the best house remixes of ayu are made it by north americans no dubt

I agree about trance being melancholic - another reason I love it.
But as far as Japanse not doing good trance - I tend to like their "hyper/energetic" style of trance. I mean, Carols S.T.F Remix, Overhead Champion Remix of Ku's Real Emotion (actually any remix/production by Overhead Champion is amazing), etc. Very good stuff. Japanese trance is a little more cheesy sometimes but I love it.

Examples posted are better house productions - the synth/melody during the choruses sound rather nice but I don't like the songs themselves.

Ignore the first 8 seconds - it was from a mix CD rip and that's not even part of the song. But this is the most amazing song by Overhead Champion!

yes, the right word for japanese techno trance is "chessy" like the oposite of "sexy" XD
here in my country that kind of hyper trance music is very related to Dance Games
like DDR or para-para (talking about eurobeat)
and that have a really bad reputation to the general people XD
i think is because sounds very childish.

i have to say that song "overhead champion" sounds like the average-trance song for me
like the base-model of the 80% of the typical trance songs.

the other song that you share "brace yourself" sound more mature, profesional and serious music.

i keep my point...japanese on dance music are not good
their house sounds cheap and their Trance is tasteless

Yes I prefer the more mature stuff as well but when I was younger I loved the cheesy stuff so it still holds a place in my heart. Still catchy and fun to listen to now and then. I'm never "too cool" for anything, lol.

it's happy hardcore, but it's still trance/hardstyle music genre. i freaking adore this track. i would go to heaven if EVEN one track from ayumix 7 trance would be a little close to this!

OMG, UK Hardcore kicks ASS! I wish Ayu would do a hardcore album. Seriously, three days out of the week I run on the treadmill at 7mph and I cannot imagine running to anything else! It gives me so much energy, and drive. It's like a game since my feet are timed with the beat of the music. It's absolutely perfect - if I am not running to the beat I feel I tire out more quickly but when each time my foot touches the ground is also a basshit, I feel so in tune with the music. Therefore, I could not run to anything with a slower pace than hardcore.

I have so many uk hardcore favorites and I even saw S3RL live last year and got to shake his hand! One of these days I will get around to making a thread for trance and uk hardcore suggestions.

I'll upload the Eternity track when I get time this week. Another track by him called "Be The One" is also great.

I love how ya'll are fighting over things that are completely personal. You can't force someone to feel emotions over something, it's all personal.

I personally find trance to be emotional, but Euromix even more so.

I know, it was not my intention to start up this mild argument/discussion but the comment of how dance music has no emotion and that is not the intention really felt like a slap to the face for me. I know it wasn't meant as such but I am very, VERY passionate about electronic dance music - trance being my inspiration for life in general. I felt like I had to stick up for a child and for what I believe in. Trance music is overwhelmingly emotional was the response I got which I could accept much more than the original accusation. Trance speaks to me even when literal speaking is not involved, and that is exactly why I appreciate, respect, and love it so much.

I don't think anyone here was fighting. Just stating why we disagree with other people's opinions...

I really agree ! People, you just have to compare Ayu Trance 1 & Ayu trance 3 : the 1st is mainly made by Eurpean DJs and the 3rd mainly by Japanese or not very famous DJs, and I was really disappoointed about that Ayu Trance3 : hope the 4th will be really nice !! (such a long time waiting for it !

Now, we just have to come back to the topic and no new previews yet of the remixes ???

i just want to clear sometime
about "too emosional" VS "not so emotional"
...i was talking about TRANCE vs HOUSE
not TRANCE VS Generic Dance

That is
...

Now...i want some leak remixes too!
i made a decision..when the albums are already leaked...im going to listen only the HOUSE cd...and wait for my box arrive to listen the others 4 discs

For my part, I think the best is to hear only the non stop mega mix which will provide a good view on the style of the tracks ! I hope Cdjapan will send my box quickly after the release too ! :p

I've read this statement somewhere before:

"Trance is for the heart. House is for the soul."
Hm, Idk about that statement, but that's the beauty of music. We're all a bunch of "feelers" and there's something for all of us to tickle our emotional interest.

About the whole debate that ensued; house does contain lots of emotion, to me. Same goes for trance. But to me they're still different and they stir up different types of emotions in different ways in me. It's kind of hard to explain, but I guess it isn't really important. And oh goodness, there are always going to be those who still insists that trance is dead and emotionless music, which is so untrue.

Oh I completely understand! I don't feel that passionate about trance (Still love it, though!) so it's a bit hard for me to imagine that kind of passion for it, but I guess it'd be the same thing if someone told me like.. "Ew, Hikki's songs are so emotionless and dead", I'd cause an outrage!

Because I definitely know what types of emotions music can create, and how strong they can be. After all, that's why we're all on this forum I can imagine
