As if hide would hate that she covered it. I swear his fans are so blind....I always felt his 'suicide note' was Hurry. Go Round, NOT Pink Spider.

She did an excellent job covering it. They all need to take several seats away.

^I'm using free shipping via YesAsia, so I probably won't have my copy for another two to three weeks.

PS, did anyone else order the CD-Only version?

I must say, I was highly anticipating Color the Cover and it's amazing!! <3

ピンク スパイダー 8,5
First I was kinda blah about it because the PV previews looked..'cheap' and the style didn't appeal to me, but full song is great. Especially great in the car

Shake Hip! 8
Most anticipated for me since she sang it together with Tatsuya Ishii at FNS Kayousai. I prefer the original song's music/arrangement though

ラブリー 8
Was worried it'd be too long, from all the comments I read about the length but it's just fine and a nice laid back style. Very cute.

情熱 7
It's ok, but not special.

One more time, One more chance 7,5
Very beautiful.

Alone 8
So sad and beautiful. ;_;

Blue Velvet 9
Damn. I love this so much. I read so many negative comments about this song, why?? It rocks. Maybe cos original is by Kudou Shizuka... :3

「男」 8
Sounds like James Bond in JPOP style. XD

どうにもとまらない 6
I don't like it. It's bland.

今宵月のように 7,5
Just fine.

歌は我が命 9
Great style and Kuu sings perfect. It's amazing. Really like this song, beautiful lyrics too.

All in all, great solid album by Kuu. ♥

I don't think many people knew that we weren't going to get the full video for the PV.

Even arama promoted the album version as the "full version".

I was really looking forward to this album, because I like cover albums and a lot of the songs on this one are songs I really like/love. But to be honest guys - this album is just trash. I wonder if all those people praising the album bothered listening just once to the original songs.
I like it when cover songs aren't exact remakes of the original song and bring in the personal style of the artist who does the cover - but this doesn't mean I want Kuu to turn all of those great songs of J-Music history into dull standard club songs or R'n'B tunes. I mean, what the hell happened to "Pink Spider", "Shake Hip!", "One more time, One more chance" and "Otoko"?

In general I like it that Kuu fans are always so happy about all the stuff she releases, but a little bit more criticism and less seeing things through rose-colored glasses would be nice too from time to time.

I don't think it's necessary. I don't care about the original songs.

What I care about, is what Koda presented us with. I think she did a good job. This is her genre of music....what else was she supposed to do?

Besides, some of those original songs have such horrible, and dated arrangements. People who like club and R&B songs, now have a chance to love the best part about those songs....the melodies.

Most artists see covers as a way to bring great songs they themselves like to a new (younger) audience, if people don't care for the original songs the meaning of doing a cover would be lost. And what made those songs great were of course also the arrangements. Kuu could have done a great rock cover of "Pink Spider" for example, I'm sure she would be able to. She has done rock before, so why not? But instead "Pink Spider" got this empty sounding dull club sound. And moreover club and R'n'B songs don't have to sound that empty and cheap like most of the covers on this album do. The arrangements those songs got are just terrible and trashy.

I don't like the originals asides from Pink Spider, because I personally have no interest in 80s or 90s JPOP. If you do, and don't like Kuu's versions, that is fine. But I like Kuu's versions because I like her style, so naturally, I am going to like that she has made covers into her own sound, because that's the type of music I like, instead of the original sound I don't personally like, and it's the same for everyone here. You're assuming that people like them just because kuu has covered them and not for the songs, because you don't personally like her versions? That's pretty assumptious, don't you think? It couldn't just be that being people that love Kuu's music, they are naturally going to also like her covers as well? No, of course not.

I don't like the album, but I'm not going to insult Kuu by calling it trash. I don't think she was trying to hurt anyone, just doing her thing. I just don't like it this time around.

EDIT: I get the feeling that there will be some people who are only casual Kuu fans who will come in here and agree that we are never too critical of her. But, I guess that's the different levels of fandom. I guess I don't think that it makes sense to over criticize my favorite artist. There is a reason she's my favorite.

The album is amazing. I really wish she could come out with an original album of this quality. All the songs are good, this never happens on her original albums. :S

I had actually never listened to One more time, one more chance before. I listened to Kuu's, and then I listened to the original. Being far more of an acoustic/light-rock lover than RnB, I have to admit I liked the original better.

HOWEVER I also ADORE Kuu's version. I like what she brought to it. An entirely different take. It's why I don't particularly like the term 'cover'; it just brings people to compare two versions of one song. I'm sure somebody who preferred Kumi's style of music would far prefer her version.

So really, it's subjective as per usual.

I think you're being too harsh on Kuu... I understand some people do not like all songs on CtC, but trashy and cheap? Of course she did a risky move when turning Pink Spider into a electro-dubstep song, and maybe also with Dounimo tomaranai, but there were the rock tracks which were much more well worked on than TATTOO was, we have Jounetsu, Koyo no... I see everything in CtC but cheapness...

Actually I don't see the difference between the original one more time and kuu's . Kuu's version is beautiful and I listen to it non-stop

If Kuu's electropop version of PINK SPIDER was released in 2007 I would have said I love the original version more because I was obsessed with rock back then. But my music taste has changed since then (thanks to Kuu for that btw) and now I prefer more R&B, dance, hip hop and electropop tunes than rock so of course I loved Kuu's version more lol.

@Chibi-Chan: Did you really expected a rock cover from Pink Spider? Did you ever listened BE MY BABY? The original is a rock song and she made it a electropop thing.

To me a cover is a "fail" when it sounds exactly like the original, and Kumi always bring a new breathe to those songs... For god's sake, the album is called Color The Cover, it's about making songs have a more appealing and colorful style. And yeah, I checked out all the original songs, and they're great, and so do are Kumi's covers. You are making a big deal of this calling them cheap and trashy, for sure.

And I'm not that kinda of fan that licks her floor when she walks in, she do bad things too (hello Dejavu, I'm still looking at you), but that's not the case of Color The Cover.
