Lady Gaga Shares Details About Dance Floor Anthem 'Perfect Illusion'

Lady Gaga's brand new single "Perfect Illusion" is a dance floor anthem about a troubled relationship, iHeartRadio reports exclusively. Mother Monster gave the radio station the first listen to her upcoming single and explained the inspiration behind the track during her appearance at iHeartRadio HQ in New York City on Wednesday.

iHeart also took to their Twitter account to answer fans' questions about the new track and if their words are anything to go by, we're about to hear one of Gaga's best songs ever. "We were humming it all day," the station tweeted. "We only got to hear it once, but it was really, really good. Probably new favourite lead single, but we still love all of those too."

"I don't think there's a comparison that would make sense," a writer for iHeart Radio added when asked if "Perfect Illusion" reminded them of any other Gaga song. "It's in its own lane, but still feels right at home."

Lady Gaga has a very personal song on her upcoming album. Not only did Gaga shock Little Monsters when she announced that her new single "Perfect Illusion" is coming next month, she also performed a couple of tracks from her new album at a private event for iHeartRadio. And, according to radio host Elvis Duran, one of the songs Gaga played is about something that is very special to the Germanotta family.

"Gaga did a couple of her new singles which I hear are just incredible," Elvis recalled. "She also did a song about someone very close to their family. Fans have raised speculation that the track could actually be "Paradise," an unreleased song written for Gaga's jazz album with Tony Bennett. Mother Monster briefly talked about the tune in an exclusive interview with Gaga Daily back in 2014, saying: "It's inspired by my father's sister and him, and the phrases as they are traded, are meant to be their words to each other right before she died."

I'm so excited over Gaga's comeback that I can't even believe it's true. It feels like a dream lol When they announced that the sequel album to Cheek to Cheek would come first, I actually felt sad and annoyed because as much as I enjoyed listening to Cheek to Cheek, I was ready for a new Gaga album instead. I was actually glad when Gaga and Tony said that the jazz album can wait until LG5 - which is actually her fourth album since TFM was a mini - is out. I totally approve their decision because it's been 3 years since ARTPOP - which is a great album in my opinion - and it's time for Gaga to really come back and show the world that she still has it in her.

I actually wasn't too big a fan of ARTPOP or Cheek to Cheek - I think they're good but can't be compared to her first 3 albums which I think are stellar. Mark Ronson: Lady Gaga's New Album Is 'Pretty Deep Musically'

Mark Ronson says Lady Gaga's upcoming album is "pretty deep." The hitmaker, who worked on most songs on Gaga's new record and is likely its executive producer, raved about collaborating with the superstar in a new interview with Buro 24/7's Tracy Phillips.

"I went in on the first day with very open expectations," Mark recalled. "I didn't know if we would work together for two weeks or six months. Earlier this week, Lady Gaga announced that the lead single from the yet-untitled album is called "Perfect Illusion" and will be released in September. The track was co-produced by Gaga, Ronson, Bloodpop, and Kevin Parker.

YES! During those two eras I was such a huge Lady Gaga fan, she meant a lot to me.
But then the Born This Way album came out and I had mixed feelings. I loved songs like Marry the Night and Edge of Glory. But the music videos and album covers and a lot of the other songs on the album really turned me off. Then Artpop really made me turn away.
I feel like she used to be so creative and unique but then it turned into doing just strange and stupid stuff.
I would elaborate more but I would go on and on and fill up the page.
I really want to love Gaga again.

Lady Gaga Confirms Florence Welch Collaboration

The rumors were true! Lady Gaga's upcoming album, due out this year, will feature a collaboration with English indie musician Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine.

"There is a feature on the album that I think you will be very excited about," Gaga told Nick Grimshaw while co-hosting BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show earlier today. "Me and Florence Welch did a duet together. I started to work on an idea for a song that I really wanted to do with a girl. You'll see why when you hear the music and what the song is about. I just thought, 'Who do I want to sing with?' She's really to me if not the best, one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She's incredible."

Rumors of a possible collaboration between the musicians surfaced last month when Florence shared an Instagram picture of her standing in front of a blue Ford Bronco – the same custom vintage car that Gaga owns.

Lady Gaga's fifth pop album is scheduled for release later this year. The record's lead single "Perfect Illusion" dropped today and is available to purchase on all platforms.
