I'm currently listening to spotifys "Secret Genius" playlist with Charli XCX, where she is talking about writing for Rihanna and she was like "It was so cool. She was there (in the session) and said things like "I would never say that" or "make the song more this vibe" and it is a really bad assumption that big pop artist are not involved in their records and just get songs pitched"

- it reminded me of Namie (and Jolin) who are always viewed like they wouldn't work for their music.

I feel that ever since PAST<FUTURE Namie just releases songs that she thinks that are going to be successful with the public, because honestly I don't think she connects with the lyrics she sings, especially for those on FEEL/_genic...

She didn't write the lyrics for Love Story. The last song she wrote lyrics for was Free in 2005.

Lyrics is just never a big thing for her after she left TK. Instead she looks for interesting music to perform, both in studio and in live. Namie never really write anything, because she just thinks that she's not good at it. But as the producer of all of her albums after break the rules, I think it's just a little unfair to say that she did not input into anything in her music.

Yeah, I mean even though she doesn't write much of the lyrics or music, I think she is very involved in the more businessy aspects of her career and kind of the overall production (which obviously she is doing amazing at). This is emphasized by the fact that now the last couple of years everything is coming out of her own production company.
