polka-dot-jewel brought up a good point on Twitter yesterday that I don't think anybody's thought of yet: he's a medical student. He'll never see her assuming he'll be a doctor. Though she has been in LA a lot recently, it's only because she doesn't have anything major going on right now. What'll happen when she goes on tour? It's not like he can go see her during it, because again, schooling and his profession. When I thought about this, I kinda understand people's wish for her to find someone Japanese; at least if the person has a decent job, they won't have to travel THAT far to be with her. It's pretty much the same issues she had with Mannie. I don't see this working - unless she plans on retiring soon after all and living in her house in LA.

She only need to be in Japan to perform. He would be married to someone who stay easily 6 months every year traveling no matter the nacionality of his popstar wife.

But I mean, sometimes people have to deal with that kind of thing. There are people who are in the military who sometimes cannot see their partners for a very long time, but they maintain successful relationships. Children and all.

I don't think people should have to limit themselves to someone within their own country.

Yeah, I only hope that they're aware of this going into the engagement/marriage, unlike Mannie - and Ayu too. Didn't she say the calls/emails were getting old between them at one point? I get the feeling Ayu needs interaction more than most in a relationship.

whether this relationship is going to work out or not, i guess that we should just let ayu to decide, she's the person who's gonna walk through this path, since she already has one experience with Mannie, so I just hope she has thought through about all the possibilities and consequences that may happen again. I just wish the best for ayu and the fiancee.

and if this means that ayu is going to retire for 1-2 years to live with the fiancee abroad, i'm happy for that, she deserves it, tbh. she can enjoy the normal life she has never had before, and along the way, she may have new inspirations and hopefully, she'll come back with much more awesome music. I'm already ready for her indefinite hiatus. though she has always said that she'll be making music forever..

we'll just get to wait and see.. only time will tell..

I think the more likely scenario is that he will try to fly to Japan when he is free and she will try to fly to LA when she is not touring. It'll probably be more of the latter, but she was essentially in LA when she wasn't on tour this year.

er that's certainly not happening, unless he can learn the language in level of doctors in Japan.... lol in general getting a job of a native speaker is not an easy bet there.....he could go teach english, tho, that's always an option xD

Tomoya is a different case as they knew each other since young... So I believe their love is more true.

Ayu should get back with tomoya, knowing each other since 15 and having a 7 year relationship proved they are quite serious with each other...

Knowing each other for longer/since ones' teenage years doesn't mean that you're more compatible or more comfortable with each other as a couple than new lovers. Besides, if I remember correctly, (one of) the reason(s) Ayu gave for their break-up was that they had come to feel for each other more as siblings rather than lovers.
I've also always wondered about Ayu and Tomoya's relationship. I got the impression that Ayu was incredibly busy during most of the years they were together (tours, lots of TV performances, ~3 singles and a new album practically every year, magazines, AyuReady? etc.), and what with Tomoya also being an artist, and in addition to that, Johnny's strict rules about the love lives of their stars, I wonder how much time Ayu and Tomoya actually got to spend together as a proper couple. Even though their relationship lasted a long time, it doesn't mean that it was her most serious relationship.
Though these are just personal speculations, and I can't claim to know anything about how Ayu felt back then or feels right now, or will feel in the future. I'll just have to trust that she knows her own feelings well enough to make the best decisions for her.
