Other singers would ruin her songs. I don't want to listen bad versions of her songs. There is no one who would sing her songs better or at the same level as she.

Stumbled upon this gem again earlier

Makes me really nostalgic for her 2004/2005 voice... It's kind of sad to see just how much her voice/singing skill has deteriorated.

About those covers, it is so weird! They are not terrible singers or anything... (allthough, I wasn't really digging the Love song cover) but somehow the whole song doesn't come over as beautiful as when Ayu brings the message. They turned these iconic songs into pretty generic and uninteresting music. It doesn't deliver...
The JEWEL cover was okay, tho. She has a good voice and gave the best attempt into bringing emotion.

We have a music TV-show in Sweden called 'So Much Better'. 7 artists in different ages and music styles go together to a vacation house. Each of them have 1 day where they talk about their lifes and careers, and the others each perform a cover in their own style of the artist's songs with a live band.

It would be a dream come true if Japan made a similar TV-show and Ayu would participate *_*
We would get other talented artists covers of Ayu and Ayu herself would make covers.

I just watched the Light and Shadow documentary from 2000. Had NO idea for all these years that the 2004 Light & Shadow with the 2001/2004 footage was a "sequel". It was amazing to see Ayu when she truly was the it girl and was about to peak. Seeing her at the fan meet and greet and hearing the crowd cheer while she got on stage gave me goosebumps! Great to see her directing and envisioning her music videos and lives-great reminder that she really was the visual artist behind her brand-and its unbelievable she was 22!!!! I do not think she is as much anymore and I do have to say i miss this, but Ayu has said before that she stopped this because she originally did everything herself because she did not want to blame anyone if something went wrong. When I was younger I loved Ayumi Hamasaki, and yet as I get older I find myself enjoying the "true" Ayu (which naturally happens as you get older, you idolize less and fall in love with the human behind the artist more). Its wonderful to always come back to Ayu with a new light.

^ While generally speaking, I do sometimes like covers better (particularly modern re-visionings of older songs) - that thing you posted was horrendously awful.

I guess everybody has different taste. I didn't like that he overuse reverb.

I like the English adaption but that vocal is too robotic and has no soul. I don't hate it overall though.
I actually love Angel a lot but I don't think it was a good match for Ayu, so I actually would love to hear another artist cover it.

^ I agree, vocally song was not good match for her. Especially when she was performing on premium showcase. Music for that song was something new in her discography, sounds fresh.
