I don't understand why people still insist on comparing ayu and kuu. Sure it was interesting before to see who was doing better, but now we're just watching to see who doesn't flop as badly.

I think this single is going to go down as a huge flop. Ayu never does badly with summer singles, but this is her lowest debut since B&D, which at least had the excuse of being released right before an album.

Though glitter/fated will sell more and I wouldn't use that is a flop example because then it was 2005 and now it's 2007, and glitter/fated which been released now can still sell more than a single released back on 2005 (even if it was a flop).

I really don't think that glitter/fated's sales are bad or a flop (not only for ayu anyway).

Generally it might've been flopped but that's because there's a general flop.

I agree with this whole post, LOL.

I would definitely consider glitter/fated an absolute flop if it sells near Startin/Born to Be... - given the fact that it is a summer single. All her summer singles have sold well. Last year's BLUE BIRD was like a 'comeback' single in a sense, since her two previous singles couldn't even reach 200K. I wouldn't be surprised if avex spent more on this single than they're going to make.. That whole short film didn't even seem worth it. It's sort of a slap in the face saying 'Before you get all visual with these short films, release some better songs please.'

I don't hate glitter/fated, but I'm actually sick of them already. Unlike BLUE BIRD, I don't think it has much longevity.

^Well I'm a bit tired of BLUE BIRD, but I can't stop listening to glitter, I think it's about opinions and individuality.
I think that glitter/fated is a better single than BLUE BIRD specially because I find fated quite an amazing ballad.

You compare a summer single a year ago to a single released now and it's not like ayu released a single before that, I think that the main reason is becaus it is a summer single after a summer single with decreasing sales of the year... Most people remember hit songs and not albums so what released between can't really be added...
It's not only ayu's single sales that flopped btw...

Most of the popular artists don't get higher single sales anymore...
I think the next single might do better.

I think avex can estimate how the single will do, they wouldn't invest a lot in a single that won't bring profit at all, and that's why it's a summer single... They might've known that it will be like this.

And still the single could afford to sell enough to bring ayu another #1 hit single...
