Shige is going to star in a new drama !

Shigeaki Kato (23) from NEWS will trade his pop star image for an insurance company worker in his upcoming drama, reports Ori-suta magazine.

Kato will star in a special Monday golden time drama “新・示談交渉人 裏ファイル (New – Jidan Koshonin Ura-file)” on March 7. Actress Atsuko Takahata (56) plays the lead role.

The story explores the challenges insurance companies face, and Kato will play an insurance claims officer trying his best at his job.

“I feel like I have the most normal character in this line up of abnormal characters (laughs). But there’s an energy around the set that everyone wants to make this the best it can be,” Kato said.

Karina gives Yamapi 15 kilo chocolate present

Tomohisa Yamashita (25) and the cast of his movie “Ashita no Joe”celebrated the opening of their film in Tokyo yesterday, reports Daily Sports and Walker plus.

The cast had met fans who had gathered in TOHO cinemas, Roppongi, on February 11. As snow engulfed most of the country yesterday, Yamashita started by thanking people for braving the chilly weather to come and see their movie.

With Valentine’s Day on the way and knowing her co-stars Yamashita and Yusuke Iseya had lost a significant amount of weight for the movie, actress Karina delighted them with a 15-kilogram chocolate in the shape of a boxing champion belt.

“I hope that the movie will be a champion too,” she said.

Yamashita had looked back on his hard training and said at times he felt uneasy with playing a character in a much-anticipated film.

“(Joe’s) really famous, and I felt a lot of pressure playing a character who had so many fans. But as a man I admired the way Joe would stand up again and again and how he faced his challenges up front. Joe taught me how to face my own challenges. I was moved by him, and I was happy to have taken on this challenge.”

Amuro Namie reveals details on collaboration album, “Checkmate!”

Amuro had previously mentioned that she would like to film a music video with a male artist, fans of both Amuro and Yamapi were shocked to see the two names together. The two first met on a music television program in the summer of 2010, which left a deep impression on the pop star. “His performance of his solo song was really fantastic,” she said of the famous NEWS member.

i remember back in july, namie & yamapi were both on MUSIC STATION together. so she must have seen him perform One in a million. i never thought they would collaborate! but i'm so happy they will. the PV's gonna be awesome.

Yamashita Tomohisa to perform next week on Korea’s M Countdown!

Japanese idol star Yamashita Tomohisa will be appearing on next week’s episode of Mnet’s M Countdown!

Currently the leader of boy band NEWS, the idol is scheduled to release his first official solo album, “SUPERGOOD, SUPERBAD“, on March 2nd, followed by a two day Korean concert on April 16th and 17th at the KBS 88 Gymnasium. In promotion of his solo album, he’ll be making an appearance on the February 24th episode of M Countdown.

Mnet Media, who currently handles his Korean licensing, as well as promotions, commented, “Many of the Japanese dramas he starred in have achieved considerable popularity in Korea. We’ve already received countless questions on his Korean activities for the past two months.”

Yamashita Tomohisa previously made a visit in 2008 and was greeted by hundreds of fans that froze Gimpo Airport, demonstrating his popularity outside of Japan.
