It seems people have a bad impression because within a relatively short span of time (late 2010 to now, only 3 years or so), she was married with Mannie, then divorced, then had a relationship with Maro, then broke up with Maro, then this engagement. And these events were announced right before or around the same time of a release.

Also, it seems people don't get why she wanted to stay in Japan post-311 and then had all this LA thing. It's kinda inconsistent, and some people criticize her using the earthquake as a cover.

I am guessing marriage may mean a bit more to Japanese. So when I read some of the previous posts in this thread that not all relationships have to end in marriages, I nodded!

Anyway, music-wise, I am just tired of the "love" theme... I want songs like decision or Microphone.

I hope she sees that pattern in her songs. She did Feel the love and Merry-go-round while in this relationship and Tell All as well [kind of] so I'm hoping that she won't go Love songs/LOVE again.... again.

You're right, and it's not Japanese only, the majority of us Asians view marriage as an important issue. It's not like in US here when people get married and then divorced like it's nothing. But I'm glad Ayu now has a more Western point of view than the rest of the Japanese.

I did too tbh. She needed to stay in Japan for like 6 months at best. And I'm SURE there was even work Mannie could have found in the meantime. And even if there wasn't, if they had been in love, a few months would have been nothing. The reason was stupid and kind of insulting tbh. But I think she just had a lot on her mind at the time, and invested herself into focusing on helping.


I get why people have a bad impression, but I also don't see why they care so much.

so i had this dream that Ayu actually got pregnant and had a baby boy lol before that she released a couple of more songs that were totally forgetable with randm PVs xD BTW Ayu looks awesome as a mom lol
