^How did you make the black shelves??

Plywood, small wood brackets, glue, nails and black acrylic paint.

While looking for stuff in my boyfriend's old boxes we found one he made years ago and I thought it would be perfect for ayupans, he gave it to me since it was not used anymore. Then I asked him how to do and made the others with a similar style. It's quite easy and quick to make (except if you're not a manual person). The wood is waste material so it didn't cost me anything!

Your shelf construction tale is an inspiring one. I SERIOUSLY think I might wanna just decorate my whole apartment with merchandise & posters displayed in a classy way... but man that can get pricey.

Oh yeah cuz I can spend all this money on the STUFF but not on a way to display it all. XD

Same here, I bought two plexi cases to display ayupans previously, it was super expensive and not that convenient so I don't use them anymore... The plywood I used came from old furnitures people were throwing away so it only cost me time ^^

Thank you to everyone for your nice comments! I was a bit uncertain about sharing my collection since to me a passion is kind of private matter and as many people I can be really reserved about what I really care for... But on the other hand, seeing great collections stimulated me to build it, so I'm glad you like the pics =)

Also gives me inspiration and motivation to display my ayupans again IF I find a place with enough space xD

FYI the showcase size is 76x37x48 and there is more or less 200 figures inside.
I hope I can display more of my ayu collection someday xD

I can kinda relate to that. This may shock you but Ayu isn't my passion XD I have other things I'm working on, and yeah I don't share that process with anyone. It makes me PROFOUNDLY uncomfortable when someone watches me over my shoulder! XD

My ayu collection is something it took me a very, very long time to finally build. Three CDs on my shelf have been in my possession for a full 14 years now, and it's gradually but VERY unsteadily grown from that.

I've built it up, hit hard times & had to sell it, lost some things entirely (including my first copy of the "poker face" single - just VANISHED when I moved once), got more things, had to sell them all again... and now my life is at a point where yeah, my spending is probably a bit unhealthy (lol), but I'm FINALLY able to have all these things and I'm not worried about rent or bills or food anymore. My kid is taken care of and I'm not in debt (outside of student loans, lol) so I can FINALLY have things I've stared longingly at on YAJ for years.

So to me, my collection is like... trophies. That collection is representative of how hard I've worked over the last decade and a half, the things I've been through, the things I've triumphed over. I look at my shelf and, even if people don't realize it, I see not just Ayu merchandise but everything I've accomplished to finally survive on my own comfortably. So I like displaying it very, very much.
