another drama tie-in for YUI! "Rain" will be the theme song to the Fuji TV drama "PERFECT REPORT".

ＹＵＩ、宇多田の６作連続オリコン初登場１位に挑む！

　シンガー・ソングライターのＹＵＩ（２３）のニューシングル「Ｒａｉｎ」（１１月末発売予定）が、１０月 スタートのフジテレビ系新ドラマ「パーフェクト・リポート」（日曜・後９時）の主題歌に決まっ た。

　「パーフェクト―」は同局が新設した日曜９時ドラマ枠の第１弾。落ちこぼれのレッテルを張られたテレビ局 の報道記者たちの再起を懸けた奮闘を描く。主演は松雪泰子（３７）で、小出恵介（２６）、相武紗季（２５） らが花を添える。主題歌の起用理由について同局の太田大プロデューサーは「ほとばしる熱い思いを全精力をか けて歌われる方。新しいスタートを飾るテーマ曲はＹＵＩさんしかいない」と説明する。

　ＹＵＩにとっては４作目のドラマタイアップ曲で、今回主題歌に採用された「Ｒａｉｎ」は１７作目のシング ル。ドラマの脚本を読み「希望に向かって、進んでいきたい！」との強い思いを歌に込めた。アップテンポなハ ードロックに仕上がっており「ドラマにもぴったりの曲になったと思います」。同曲がオリコン初登場１位を獲 得すると、６作連続となり、女性シンガー・ソングライターとしては宇多田ヒカル（２７）に並ぶ 記録となる。

YUI’s upcoming single chosen as theme song for new drama

It’s been reported that YUI’s upcoming single “Rain” has been chosen as the theme song for new drama “Perfect Report“, scheduled to begin in October.

“Perfect Report” is the first drama to be played on FujiTV’s new drama-time slot for Sundays at 9 pm; talents Matsuyuki Yasuko, Koide Keisuke, and Aibu Saki have been cast for the show. According to the producer of FujiTV, the reason why they chose YUI’s song is because YUI devotes a lot of energy into her songs.

This is the 4th time for YUI to sing for a drama, and “Rain” will be her 17th single. If the new song hits No.1 on Oricon, it will be 6 times in a row – the same record that Utada Hikaru holds as a female singer and a song writer.

Could YUI eventually knock out Queen Hikki from the spot?
