Dejavu + Dream Music Park was the best pairing up ever. Even for those who had bought UNIVERSE Tour, the concert still had loads of new things, and some perfomances in it were even better than in the tour (Can We Go Back and UNIVERSE for me)

Oh my god, Dirty Ballroom is my shit. It's my favorite concert by her, the choreography was hot, the tracklist was awesome, ballads were kept down to a minimum, and she even performed a bunch of remixes. It was nothing but pure awesomeness. My only gripe is the annoying, and overly abundant video effects they used throughout the performance.

i guess it's legit. it's the same composer of kuus song, and how often do they have the same songtitle. besides it has nearly exact the same lenght, just 3sec difference.
it sounds good to me, but it's hard for me to imagine her voice with it. but i trust kuu to make it her own and make it absolutetly awesome |

That's odd, 'SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA' Short version uploaded on Avex's Youtube channel was available to view in my country and now it suddenly isn't. Is everyone else getting this?

They did the same with the JAPONESQUE Tour DVD Trailer. I doubt it has anything to do with the who-copied-who thing. Besides if it upsets Beyonce or Christina Aguilera their labels have full international connections so limiting the PV to one country wouldn't help anything.

'SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA' reminds me much more of the old black & white 1920's/40's sailor girl pin up photos and videos, (which is what 'Candy Man' was probably also inspired by) which was obviously chosen to match the theme of the album. mixed with a high fashion set (hence the other shots of her being shot in high fashion). The dance style looks similar to the Charleston dance too in places, from the 1920's.

Not really relevant to any ongoing conversations in this thread, but I wanted to show off the latest addition to my back tattoo design.
Spoiler:
Now, she sits beautifully underneath my Ayumi tattoo!! |

^^ agree. Besides if she was copying anything itd be people who passed away A LONG TIME AGO. Lots of artists have done an old retro theme. Another recent one is the covers for Mika Nakashima's latest cover album. Has a very 1940s fashion to it which btw I ADORE TO PIECES. Anyways I'm suspecting theyre starting to do this on YouTube as part of the new Piracy Control Extremes they've started in Japan. I also think the Posting Only Clips of the PVs are so they can keep selling several copies of the +DVD/Bluray editions of singles and albums. Seems Japan are the only country still comitted to doing this. Korea, America, Australia and the UK are all now just putting the full things on YouTube and selling albums as just CDs and Digital DLs majority of the time nowadays. I'm not too sure on what most other countries are doing for this but I'd suspect the same or something similar.

^Yeah I agree. I really hope Japan follows suit one day. I know they didn't because they used to make a lot of money by selling the CD+DVD version, but I wonder if they still do now? I think Kpop and Western pop has proven the publicity of Youtube (and other social media) can be huge, for the publicity of the artist and the albums sales. Japanese music companies never seem that bothered about making their artists internationally recognized, though. Also I think I saw that shoot by Mika Nakashima and remember it being rather gorgeous!
I really love 'SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA'! The song, the PV, the pin-up sailor theme, the dancing, everything. The scene with her face being silhouetted by the light and shadow lines through the blind is bloody gorgeous, and I can't stop watching the dance or get the song out of my head. It's quickly becoming a favorite of mine! <3 'Winner Girls' is awesome, too. Both songs make me not want to wait to hear the rest of the tracklist!

^I think that Japan not having the initiative on the International Market is quite sad actually. During the early 00's JPOP was REALLY catching on and Japan could have really done something with it besides putting the songs as tie ins for animes and video games like Inuyasha and Final Fantasy. There seems to be a few selective Japanese artists that want to really reach out to the Intl fans but its more the individual and not the companies themselves. The top 4 I can name off top of my head at the moment would be Kuu, Hikki, Namie & L'Arc~en~Ciel.
As for Bon Voyage I admit I've only seen the preview of SMYH PV and listened to the preview of WG. Im trying to save most of it for when the full thing leaks. Last edited by ILoveGeniuses; 12th February 2014 at 07:42 PM. |

I do too. I really hope the japanese companies will open up a bit in the future. Kuu said she chose the songs for japonesque to reach out to the international market and fans, because she feels that jpop can deliver unique types of music found only in japan. Which is true! But it was never marketed so that international people could find it easy or buy it easily, like you can kpop. Such as with itunes you can buy most kpop music no matter what country youre in. I got really excited when they advertised Namies 'Uncontrolled' on Youtube, cause that did reach out to an international audience. I remember clicking on a video when browsing Youtube one day and the advert came up for her album, it was awesome.

@Possessionless No it wasnt removed from YT. Avex just limited it so you can only view it if you're in Japan. -_- Last edited by ILoveGeniuses; 12th February 2014 at 11:22 PM. |
