How Sakurai Sho became a newscaster...

- He wanted to do something that other idols hadn't done. Then one day in his early 20's, an interviewer in a news show caught his attention. He told JE that he wanted to do that kind of job too, but they said he's still too young for that.

- After Keio graduation, JE gave him the permission. He wrote a proposal to TV stations, explaining his interest in the world of journalism and the kind of segments that a news show should have. A few TV stations responded, but NTV offered him a position in News Zero which gave him the chance to run his own segment. He went to NTV for an interview in 2006 and passed.

And that's how we get "Sakurai-C" .

There's a reason why it's Sakurai Sho who does the decontamination work every year and not other newscasters. It's because he's the one who suggested this.

When NTV stopped airing the Tohoku Earthquake special program back in 2013, he spoke out and suggested to keep on reporting on this. "I don't like to leave an interview hanging." Because obviously, the problem isn't solved yet.

So every year, he'll go to Fukushima and help around while interviewing.
