Rainy day was the ending theme for a videogame called Onimusha. I remember renting it only for that song and Startin' but they cut it out of the English version 😡

No they didn't.
You have to set voice dialog in Japanese in game option menu and wait on the title screen and the song will start :-)

It's amazing how a live experience can change perceptions of a song. I think I felt this more than ever after TA 2016.

NaNaNa and Shake It were always awful to me, and seemed so dissonant. But I've come to appreciate them as just fun songs. Ivy was always really dull and boring to me, but she sang it with such intensity and passion, that now I love it. Then finally, I always found Progress/Song 4 U/Now & 4EVA to be too similar, but I've realized it's just Song 4 U that I don't really love that much, but the other two are awesome.

^ Yeah! It's amazing how it changes! I used to don't care about "Anything for You" and "progress" but then I listened to it at CdM Tour and absolutelly loved it! <3

^ I think these days especially, Ayu really crafts a lot her music with live performances in mind, thinking about how and where it might fit into a show, the energy/vibe it will create, etc. And sometimes that gets "lost" within an album and with too much studio magic, but then it really shines in a live.

YES. I always hated Happy Ending, automatically skipped it when listening to My Story. Then 11 years later....I'm at AT 2015, stunned because of the atmosphere of the performance. I loved the stars and the moon and I'm glad she replaced Zutto from the previous CDL with Happy Ending. It fit much better with the performance and made me love the song.

I also had the same reaction as you to Ivy.

That's why I love to watch concerts, sometimes they completely change my opinion on a song. The first example that comes up in my mind with ayu songs is BALLAD from RnRCTour, that one was just so magical and dramatic, everything I love bout ayu ahahah

That one wasn't lip synched. She sang to a backing track (which most of her TV performances used back then). She sings the wrong part of the lyrics, but you can still clearly hear her voice as well as the voice on the backtrack singing different things. So I don't count that as lip sync, just assistance.

Yeah, I bought the game as well. You just have to set it to Japanese and you'll hear the songs. I wouldn't play a game like that in English anyway, haha. I was just saying that she may have been 'inspired' by the Onimusha story for the lyrics.

yesterday I listened Over very attentively while walking outside. it was cool and cloudy. and the song was so perfect for the weather. I used to love this song so much back when Rainbow was just released. it's been may be more than 10 years that I enjoyed this song so much.

I had a dream last night that I was at an Ayu concert but it was really low-key (in a circus tent with only about 40% capacity), and someone stole my bag so I had to ask Ayu if she could help find it. At various points she sang Pray and Born to be. This is not the weirdest Ayu dream I've had. Has anyone else dreamed about her?

I had dream bout her too, and it was interesting lol normally because i watched her before i go to sleep xDDD

I have never read this article before. I didn't even think Kotaku wrote articles on music unless it was gaming related.
Some of the comparisons where pretty surprising! Sadly though, this article makes Ayu look like a copycat.

Ugh, I can't deal with Kotaku lol. Yet another awful article from them. It's funny how they used all of these examples (a lot of which are complete stretches) but didn't use the times Ayu actually DID heavily borrow from other artists (like the song/video for You & Me vs. We Found Love)

Some of these dont even make sense omg The comparison with Evolution is dull, there are tons of videos like that all over the world, and some like M are just too wrong??? The concepts in those videos was not the same at all, the scene with hands on water are totally different even in their meanings. Plus art repeats itself and everybody has been inspired by someone else already in a way... Those copycat stuff are just so 2004 it pisses me off lol
