NTV's 'THE MUSIC DAY' to broadcast an 8-hour programme hosted by Sakurai Sho

NTV's special music programme 'THE MUSIC DAY' will have an eight-hour broadcast on July 3.

This is the ninth year that NTV will broadcast 'THE MUSIC DAY,' and it will be hosted by Sakurai Sho for the ninth consecutive time. He mentioned that this year will be different as he will be able to dedicate himself to being a host, whereas in the previous years, he had his own performance as Arashi in the back of his mind.

This year's 'THE MUSIC DAY' will be held with the theme "music doesn't stop," and will feature medleys as well as new segments.

There are also ten surprises planned throughout the program. Currently, there are five things that are being foretold: "Two artists that are really popular among young people will perform their latest song for the first time on TV," "That songstress will return to TV for the first time in two years and two months," "Live from South Korea! From that popular drama...," "Sakurai Sho collaborates with a super popular anime," and "A popular actor and that band will collaborate for one night only!"

Ninomiya Kazunari stars in A Robot in the Garden adaptation

Ninomiya Kazunari has been announced as the lead of the film Tang based on British writer Deborah Install's heartwarming fantasy novel A Robot in the Garden.

This marks Ninomiya's first film after Arashi suspended group activities in the end of 2020.

Published in 2015, A Robot in the Garden was one of the titles selected for the Books at Berlinale market at the 2016 Berlin Film Festival. The novel about the adventures of a floundering man and a robot has already been adapted into a musical in Japan by the Shiki Theatre Company in 2020.

In the film adaptation, Ninomiya Kazunari plays unemployed and unmotivated protagonist Kasugai Ken, whose wife left him because of his gaming obsession. While passing his time uselessly, he discovers a defective robot in his garden one day. It's unknown where this robot called Tang came from. Both equally lost, the man and the robot set out on an adventure together.

Tang is directed by Miki Takahiro (My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday) and written by Kaneko Arisa (An Incurable Case of Love). The film combining live-action and CG will feature VFX from Shirogumi, the production house that worked on the Stand By Me Doraemon series.

Tang has completed filming, and is slated for release in 2022.

Arashi's Aiba Masaki and Sakurai Sho have been appointed as the special navigators for NHK's broadcast of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The two will serve as the emcees for NHK's Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic programs between July 23 and August 8. They will be reporting on the overall games as well as the highlights of featured competitions and the athletes competing in the games.

In addition, retired swimmer Kitajima Kosuke has been chosen as the athlete navigator for NHK's broadcast of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
