Well, the other side of the argument is that the first "It's over" wasn't meant to be sung by her, so she wouldn't have had to have the mic at her lips at the point of the song. I mean has she ever made a mistake like that? She's flubbed lyrics, but I don't think she forgets mic-movements..

So is there a general consensus in whether she really messed up the first "It's Over" part or not?

Probably been discussed to death but...I really don't want to go through the pages of the lipsync debate...
I think she did, but some people will argue that she wasn't supposed to sing that part to begin with although to me, it certainly sounds and looks like she had meant to sing that line.

As for the Unite thing, I don't really want to get far into it since I haven't compared, I just wanted to make a quick comment about saying that live songs will always sound the same if they are the same song. Because I definitely think that they won't sound the same. No song, no matter how many times it is performed, will sound exactly the same everytime - you should always be able to hear slight differences at the very least. Take all of the Unite TV performances for example. The general consensus is that all of her tv performances are, without a doubt, live. Yet in every tv performance of Unite you can tell that the vocals are distinctly different in some way or another. That's not to say that she lip synched Unite this time, I don't know. Just that live performances of the same song should not sound the same all the time.

if it's not meant for ayu to sing the first "It's over", we have to see whether ayu's mouth if it looks like she tried to sing "It's over" and she missed it.

from the video, i cant see anything as it's a far shot. but ur theory could be true, just that it cannot be proven.

Considering the fact that the video we have came from a broadcast on a low satelitte signal,
I think it's safe to say we cannot say if she did or did not lipsync Over based upon this video.
Maybe it sounds excuse, but, I dont see the point because we honestly dont know if there is a piece missing somehow..
We just have to wait for the DVD and see what happens at that point..
Like to see if they focus in her face and stuff.

Actually, I think it's very likely that that was meant to be a record playing.
Like with Step YOU, and Happy Ending in the My Story tour.
It seems very ... what is that word... epic? for it to happen that way.
Just imagine it is very very powerful~~ ^^)

Anyways, yeah, there is not a reason for her to lipsync Unite! because honestly..
It still sounded not that great.
So whatever, if it's a lipsync or not, it doesnt matter. It wasnt a spectacularly performance.
She hit the same notes in Surreal, so.. whatever. ahahaa.
If it is lipsync somehow, then it was probably to rest her vocals from the songs right before.

If she lip synced UNITE!, then for songs is she resting for? SURREAL/evolution? Aha give me a break, those songs DON'T sound as if she's resting her vocals. I don't mean to sound rude but I don't mind, and can even accept if there's evidence, of her lip syncing certain songs.

But her staples... no way. I just don't think she's that lazy that she would lip sync even her staples. She has sung these songs for years, and I think that more or less she would have stabilized a certain way of singing these staples... of course there would be slight and minute differences, but it won't be that obvious.

^ Well, in the marionette clips they showed, the ribbons on her dress were red, and it that was a costume change that was made for the Asia stops, so I think it's safe to say that yes, that was DVD footage from Taipei.

There are two seperate rips of the concert available from different sources, one of which had no satellite problems and the mistake from Over is exactly the same.

she lipsynced in ANGEL'S SONG, as her lips formed the o for motsu while the audio went mita. That's clear, despite the delay in the video.

Ayu cannot sing like before, and I'm sad about it, especially since she performed many of my favourite songs now..... but I just cannot enjoy her singing anymore now. I'm happy she performed Over and SCAR though. And HOPE or PAIN. I just wish she did it earlier.

^ I thought her vocals were amazing during this live! For songs like "End of the world" and "Heartplace" I really don't think her vocals could get any better. They are definately better than the actual studio versions, that's for sure. As far as the "Over" thing, I was confused as well. At first I was like "Hm, I guess that parts not meant for her" but then when she sang "It's Over" for the last line I was confused again. It sounded like she was meant to sing the first "It's Over" because the "vocal track" wasn't any lower or distorted. It sounded like it was meant to sound "Live".

Ok people, can everyone GET OVER the fact that we are having a DISCUSSION about her lip-syncing...!? Nobody is saying "GOD SHE LIP-SYNCED!? SHE IS GOING TO HELL! DAMN HER! GRARHARA!" Lol. We are having a conversation now. Nobody is putting her down. Put away the knives.

The first "It's Over" definitely was meant for her to sing, because she takes the mic up to her mouth half way through the phrase and makes her singing movements with her head and arms. The whole file did have a slight delay, but not that much.

On the other hand, she doesn't seem startled or anything, just moves the mic slowly up to her mouth, so it could be a delay from that particular camera.

*Edit: Though when she continues to sing from that angle, it matches perfectly. Hmm. The song definitely did not sound lip synced, it was a bit pitchy. Then the "it's over" parts could be prerecorded, but why on earth would they do that.

I agree about that to an extent, but mainly when it comes to Powder Snow. I really wish she would have done that one earlier. The Powder Snow performance definitely seemed live to me, but the notes were too powered through I thought and just overall that performance kind of lacked the emotional punch that song should have.

I didn't think her vocals for Heartplace and End of the World were bad either - quite good actually. But I would definitely still prefer the studio recordings of them. I also prefer the CDL 00/01 performance of End of the World and the CDL 02/03 Heartplace - mainly because she looked like she got into those performances a lot more and showed more emotion in her voice imo.

i think PCDL '08-'09 is one of her best tours!!
it feels like the old Ayu is coming back after looonngggg breaakkksss

i don't like her previous tours (AT 2007, AT 2008, etc) *basically around 2006-2008* her voice sounds crap.. and the performances were awful
i never watched them again..

I kinda felt sorry for Ayu during Angel's Song, the one stuff up she made and the camera is right on her mouth.

My favourite performance was Hope and Pain. The whole thing was just epic. Something simple turned out so damn good.

In the Corner, I didn't feel was that great. A lot of people hyped it up for me and I was a bit disappointed in the end. Good hearing it live, but there wasn't much to the performance.

And yeah, some very bad costumes for this concert.
