And the photo of Ebihara Yuri looks absolutely bad. Now THAT's what I'd call a bad lip pose. Compared to that, ayu's lip poses look really natural.

all i could think that the fish lips are CUTE...
since Ayu is so cute...she's not really looking so bad creating such lips..
it's like happening to every girls in photos...who want to look cute..they tend to pose their lips like that...

Thsi became very scary Look at this pic, from your link. The woman left is EXACTLY a teacher at school from me O__O Only she hasn't that color hair and not that heavy make-up and no nose piercing.(and that weird spots on her face) Really this is scary!

For as long as I can remember, people with big puckered lips are associated with fish. Just like people with buckteeth are associated with beavers and so forth. It's not a mistranslation or some form of disrespect, it's just what we call it in the west or at least where I'm from. I usually just call it a pucker or a pout though... that's just me.

In any case, this article was very informative (albeit kind of strange) so thanks for posting. I think fish lips sounds a lot better than duck mouth though.
