I don't know if she's one of my favorites now, but I have a special place in my heart for her, as she was one of the first Japanese singers I ever listened to (Pretty Eyes, By Myself, and SAMURAI DRIVE were the first songs I heard from her).

You love hitomi don't lie. You even bought a few of her CDs when you went to Japan.

^^^^I love Pray, i love her "guitar radio tuned" songs.

thermo plastic and Huma-Rhythm are some of the best JPOP albums. Songs like taion, IS IT YOU? and there is... make me dive deeply into daydreaming. They crawl so deep in the soul.

And even though "flow" isn't on them, flow is one of the best JPOP songs imo. so beautiful...hitomi made me relax several times with her mysterious/calm type of songs.

I love her! Got all her albums and DVD's. She was really hitting her stride around Thermo-Plastic - Traveler. I adored Love Concent's album too.

I think her music just isn't for the masses so that's why she never stayed consistently at the top of the charts. She's amazing live, but lately she's gotten a bit strange by having some teeny-boppers as her back-up singers. I miss the large woman who used to do it. (Check out the Traveler tour - that was phenomenal!)

I think she's done proving who she is is and is just making music for her and her fans, hence the Indie label she has now.

I love you..yes her music had too much quality for the lack of a better word when she was really at her best. She is sooo underrated..she's the only singer I like being compared to Ayu other than Utada. To compare Koda and Namie to Ayu is insulting tbh.

I'd say Namie is very good (and quite mass market) but hitomi was very niche. Nice to hear that I'm loved LOL.

yes, her voice gets annoying at times and idk I find her music to be overall kinda lacking especially her older stuff...like I can see why Japan forgot her so quickly

but her last album was great, up and down is my jam <3
