First song I heard was Fly high... voice is not that important to me, to an extent, so I didn't think much of it at all to be honest.

Absolutely fell in love with the song, though and well... I came to be the fan of her I am today

Its weird how that works, no? All my favorites were CREA songs, but I didnt know that CREA was Ayu until I came here and people were talking about it. I didnt pay attention to composers until I started getting lyrics from divine ayu.

Anyways, cause crea songs are the best songs.

My first song was Fly High. But I have no memory of what I thought about her voice. I was watching the PV at the same time so I was more blown away of her cute looks/outfit and the song's composition and sound.

We had such a nice time. We started dating in t2m PV, took it slow you know, let our love grow. Then it got really serious in 2008. Then after AT2009 we moved in together. It was lovely. Then on AT2010 he asked me to marry him. He was such a sweet. And Ayu gave us our blessings. She was also such a sweet. Now me and Maro are such a sweets together. Aaaw, how time flies.

My first song was Dearest and at that time I was already listening to Jpop.
I don't remember my exact reaction to her voice, but I thought it was really different from other Jpop singers like Hikki, Kuu or Tomiko Van.
But then I fell so in love that I become a fangirl for her lol. And after 10 years she's still my favorite singer ever .

First I thought hearing Ayu's voice?
Unpleasent high pitched. I didn't like her voice much.
But somehow it fascinated me.
Don't know exactly which song it was, but from Rainbow/ Rainbow era.

When I first heard her voice I felt like it was awfully strained & reserved sounding...I really didn't like it all that much. Of course that all changed over time with songs like no more words (the first song I heard from Ayu was Dearest). I've grown to love Ayu's unique voice & cherish it although I still have moments when I wish she would tone down the vibrato a notch.

My first song was Bold & Delicious LOL
I had never listened to Jpop before.. I found her albums at the local library, I thought she was just of Asian descent, (m)u looks pretty western.. then I was like

whaaaat??? I stopped it then replayed..then I decided it was catchy..
At first I thought her voice was kinda squeaky (the high notes), but I grew used to it and listened to the rest of the album over the next few days, then listened to My Story and Secret, the other 2 I checked out from the library..
After 1 full listen I loved her voice.. there's nothing else like it..

The first original Ayumi song I heard was the same. I got a scare when it started with "YA YA YA YA!!!" lol, but the first time I heard Ayumi's voice was in a remix.

It was the Christmas holidays and I was bored out of my mind with my music collection. I came across a couple of Ayumi remixes by western remixers that I loved. I think it was the Thunderuss remix of "Trauma" and the Hex Hector remix of "Far Away". At first I was shocked that she was singing in Japanese! It may sound a little close minded, but I didn't think western remixers would remix songs in Japanese lol. I really couldn't stand her high pitched voice, and would cringe when she hit a high note, but I really loved the melody of the songs. Over time I got used to her voice and the rest is history =P

i listened to ayu's voice for the first time when my sister bought few of her first albums and i thought her voice was very high pitch and i disliked that kind of voice, therefore i didn't instantly fall in love with her. but then later, i found out Dearest, i fell in love all the sudden, i thought it was really a very sweet song, and her voice there was not as high pitch as i first heard it, at the time, it was 2004, so i started to find her latest song, then got to hear Memorial address and i fell in love more deeply. starting from there, she really got me as her huge fan. I love her voice starting from 2004 until now.

but then, i also started to dig out her old albums where her vocal was not in my liking, but then after listening over and over again, i thought it was quite nice LOLS.

The very first thing of Ayu I saw was Asia Tour 2008 so the song was talkin' 2 myself and I didn't really think about her voice. I liked it though. When I heard her older songs it took me a while to get used to her voice but I love it now, even her higher pitch in the first albums.

It's weird, cause out of all the singers I like (English singers included), I would put her in my top 5 for best voices. I loveeeeeeeeeee her voice so much because of the uniqueness of it. It's intriguing somehow. It was so different from anything I had ever heard. I also love how much her voice has grown. I love it the best now.

I first heard Fly high "HAL's MIX 2000" and A Song for xx, the first one was cool, not many squeeky sounds, now A Song for ouch, I really liked more the sound of the music then her voice, never thought it was annoying, just very special.

Well umm.. First song I heard was UNITE! Moogwai remix and I thought her voice was pleasant. Later I listened Dearest, POWDER SNOW and Still alone and started to appreciate her unique voice. Although sometimes it hurt my ears (Still alone)! But I fell in love with her voice.

I really can't remember what I thought about her voice when I first heard it. But I sure do remember the reaction my friend had when I made him listen to Because of You: "Nice song. Who's this guy singing?" "... It's not a guy."
