Yes, RIAJ certifications consider copies shipped, not copies sold, so many albums/singles end up getting certificates even if they didn't really sell that many copies.

Interesting info! An average of 8,324 attendees per show. For larger venues like yoyogi, I guess that is a lot of empty seats, but eh, she still ranked nicely on the list!

I laughed badly for this
AKB48 – 234,000 attendees – 271 concerts. Need to have 271 for 234,000 people. Bitch please. Ayu and Namie can have less than 50 concerts for that number of people.

Yeah, I don't know why AKB48 (along with SKE48, NMB48 and HKT48) count its 'daily' (almost) stage performances as such concerts in this list...

Honestly... I don't like AKB48 either, but this comparison was unnecessary. What's the point of comparing artists who do arena tours with AKB48's small theater daily concerts? It's two entirely different situations.

I have never seen this before. Do we have historical charts say from 2001?

wow awesome..ayu in japan is still relevant! i'm so glad!
and surprised to see AKB48 (n the rest of the 48 groups) doing not that high on the ranking, coz it seems to me they are super popular in japan. |

What I take from this list: The real #1 is Arashi, B'z popularity is more down than expected, and while Ayu is still in the top 20, it took an awful lot of concert dates to get there. And probably the most impressive ranking is this: KinKi Kids – 220,000 attendees – 4 concerts
Yoyogi is actually not very big. It just looks bigger on dvd. I believe its max is somewhere between 9-10k. Last edited by SunshineSlayer; 20th November 2015 at 03:49 AM. |

AT 2015 had 175000 attendees. CDL ~ 36000 attendees.
So, TA tour 147000???

I think TA tour is not included yet in this data...The tour is not ended yet...

TA tour is included. AT 22 concerts, TA 19 concerts, CDL 2~3 concerts = 43 concerts.

Of course, being able to do a big dome tour, like ARASHI, Sandaime J Soul Brothers or EXILE does show some huge popularity... but just analyzing number of concerts and attendants doesn't work as well for all cases imo. Many artists in the list still had on-going tours when the list came out. This is counting all scheduled concerts until the end of the year, whether they already happened or not.
