Trance is my overall favorite, though I voted for pop and videogame music (which can cover quite a few genres itself) as well.

I used to be extremelly narrow minded for music...it's funny how in only one year (2003) my music tastes changed so much i'm open to a long variety of genres now. It really depends on my mood for me to get to appreciate a certain genre. Like I LOVE listening to ballads when I'm physically and mentally exausted, it has such an interesting effect over my sleep. I usually like to stick to danceable songs because they usually have catchy melodies and well dancing=exercise which is a good thing, makes me get into a much better mood!

I like almost everything on the list. But my overall favorite is progressive metal (i.e. Dream Theater, Symhony X, Queensryche, Fates Warning, etc.). I really like a lot of different music. Hell, I have Frank Sinatra, Beck, and Morbid Angel in my CD collection. My tastes are very diverse.

No metalcore? No hardcore? Psh. I voted for Heavy Metal and Gothic, although darkwave should be a choice.. but hey.. I also highly doubt that most people that voted for Heavy Metal and Gothic can actually name more than 5 bands that could seriously be in that genre. Music genres/labels are so screwed up these days..

Classical
Dance/Techno/Trance/Eurobeat/etc.
Video Game Music
and Others

if I need to choose one my most favorite out of them all it's Dance/Techno/Trance/etc.

I can kinda relate to that.... back when I first started listening to Jpop, that was all I liked... people like Ayu, Namie, Hikki, and Aikawa were some of the only singers I ever listened to til mid-2002 when I heard songs from ELT (namely, ELT Trance) and had to find more songs like it! So now in 2004, Trance is perhaps my main focal point, although I have tried listening to dance/house/r&b/eurobeat songs a bit too

I like a lot of different genres of music, though my faves are definately alternative rock, pop/rock, and ska.

Noise
Emo
What-the-heck-this-just-sounds-good
Video-game-music
What-the-heck-this-sounds-great-as-well

I mean. Arr. What ´genre´ is Flaming Lips? Dillinger Escape Plan? Malkovich? Time In Malta? Velvet Underground? Alamo Race Track? The only thing they have in common is the instruments used.

To be honest, I hate genres in general. I hate it so much I once even wrote a big essay on parochialism (genre-thinking). That much.

I love all types of music except for Rap and Hip-Hop. I can't stand them. Techno/Dance/Electronica are my absolute favorites since I play DDR a lot. And If I'm in the car by myself, I only listen to Ayu or ELT. ^^ And as for Video Game music? I love Chrono Cross', Xenogears', Kingdom Hearts, FFVIII's, Shadow Hearts, DDR (Of course!), and FFVII's. ^^

My Top 5 Genre:
1. Dance/Electronica
2. Video Game Music
3. Rap
4. Rock
5. Others like Ambient/Chillout and Freestyle
When I mentioned to people that I listen to freestyle music, I wasn't talking about freestyle rap because I know they assume that was it, but it's not! What I listen to is Latin Freestyle. Most artist sings in english. People who are familiar with this genre knows just call it "Freestyle." ^_^
