well, my tastes are diverse, but not diverse at the same time haha. I'll listen to almost anything (diverse) but basically only if it's asian (not diverse).

Except, i do have a soft spot for shakira

just jpop. i dont find english music as good because they rarely have any good lyrics to go with musics. i seldom listen to chinese but they make the bestest lyrics next to jpop. they just need to find people who can sing better. as for kpop i dont care about it. they all sounds the same to me. even mtv too. all they need to do is write a script about someone getting leukemia or some other lethal disease. wow... I don't consider jpop a genre since there's so much in there, lol

To be honest, I have REALLY diverse taste in music. My requirements are that it has to have artistic merit. That's it. So no NSync (although I will LISTEN to it, it's not my choice), no Morning Musume. It has to be a good piece of music.

If it's in english (which my music rarely is... jpop, cpop, even stuff in french and german are more likely to be heard than english), the lyrics CAN'T SUCK. That means they can't be cliche, they have to have subtext, they have to have imagery. No "i'm your love, sent from above" crap. Give me Stevie Nicks any day.

I personally think Diane Warren (writer of "wishing on the same star", "my heart will go on", and "i don't want to miss a thing") is evil and talentless, and that she must have sold her soul to the devil for grammy awards and commercial success. NOTHING of hers has any merit whatsoever. Her lyrics are long-winded and unpoetic and her melodies are unbelievably cliche.

She's really the only person in the music world who I will never EVER support, and she's making it hard for me to decide if i should by namie's "Style" album which, aside from "wishing", is one of the best albums i've heard in awhile.

Oh, i also don't like most r&b, hip hop, and especially gangsta rap here in the USA. All they talk about is how hard it is to be a gangster, worries that they'll get killed, crap like that. The rap industry here is run by criminals and I do NOT under any circumstances support that, nor do i enjoy listening to their stuff. I do like rap but i much prefer Will Smith or Shakkazombie over, say, Ludacris.

My philosophy is if it sounds good, I listen to it.

I listen to almost every genre but here's a list of my current favorites to give you an idea of what I listen to: BSB, Britney, Christina, Jay-Z, Ayumi (duh), Namie, Laruku, Coco Lee, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Madonna (old school), George Michael, Robert Palmer, various other 80's music, Maroon 5, Usher, Eminem, NSYNC, No Doubt, Sugar Ray, JLo. And I'm a huge fan of David Cassidy.

I just don't listern to Country or Opera otherwise it is pretty hard to find a style of music I won't like. In otherwords I am doing this the easy way and not listing what I listern to because it would be too big.

My window of music is really small. Basically, Ayumi Hamasaki, a little bit of techno, a little bit of classical, some video game and anime music, and a few random songs that have a catchy toon.

Hmmmm, old thread XD

Anyway, kind of too many to list. I listen to J-pop, J-rock, Shibuya kei, classical, trance, ambient, 80's/90's pop, britpop, dance sometimes, a bit of rock, a bit of R&B, a lil' bit of hip-hop and so on.
