Seriously. Do you guys remember that it would be illegal and major law suits would be thrown around at all times? There are many artists that use the same composing and melodies.

Also .. the title translates to "Don't Say Sorry"
Go Brian! But I don't think anybody ever reads it.

I read it, and I agree. I don't like it when people say that someone "stole" or "copied" something. They covered it, they didn't steal it! If they stole (meaning they sang the exact same song without permission) it, they'd be in big, big trouble.

Yeah, she has. "The Beat Goes On", from her "...Baby One More Time" album was originally done by Sonny and Cher. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" on her "Oops...I Did It Again" album was originally done by The Rolling Stones. She also covered "I Love Rock'n'Roll" on her "Britney" album.

But you know, a lot of people cover songs. Sometimes it's because the artist really likes that song, or their producers think that song fits their voice or whatever.

Thats your opinion though. The song "Distant Place" was a cover of a Backstreet Boys song and I can honestly say their version is so much better .. same goes with the "Don't Say Sorry" of Britney's.

I don't think its a cover though. It's just using the same music. I thought a cover is when the lyrics were the same, maybe a little fine tuning to match with the singer (if needed). Using completely different words, no matter what language, wouldn't be a cover. Just using the same melody. To which Britney didn't compose if I remember correctly. The composer can sell it to whomever they wish.

I like Britney's version as well as S.H.E's version but I don't think it should be a bickering thing. It's all legal no worries here ... just move on.

Definitely.

I agree with those who see no problem in covers. What's wrong with them? It's nice to see how other artists do a rendition of other people's songs. Everybody does it, and some do it particularly good even. Shiina Ringo did an album that contained only covers, Utaite Myori, and it's brilliant. Etc etc. I could mentions tens of thousands of lovely covers, but I won't.

By the way, I like Britney's version of 'Everytime' better than S.H.E.'s, although I think both are very good.

Also, I like both versions equally.

S.H.E. (along with a number of other chinese language singers, at least some of the more famous ones) looove to make covers. It's pretty old in my opinion...V_V

It is a damn common thing for taiwanese singers to do covers of japanese/korean/english songs. I wouldn't say they 'steal' or 'copy', their record company probably bought the music through legal methods.

This simply tells me that they can't compose their own music. No offence but the taiwan coverage of others' songs are too common. And they sing it like it's their song, people here in Singapore will listen to the chinese coverage and not know they are orginally other singers' songs >.<
