Well since they were filmed around the same time, no one was copying anyone. xD
I haven't seen the Ami PV, but it looks like Ayu's one is better. =p

Ami's PV came out just as alterna was almost done being shot, i think. Probably avex greenlit ami's, and then when ayu's concept showed up, they had to greenlight hers as well (cuz it's ayu x_x)...
Also, Nana Kitade's first video Kesenai Tsumi has her as a doll too. It ends with the fully-constructed pop star, so no throwing away in a dump or anything, but it's not a new concept that just Ayu & Ami have done at this point. (And I dunno if anyone here has seen The Rolling Stones' "Anybody Seen My Baby" video but it's chock-full of clockwork doll people, and their insides look alot like ayu's at the end of alterna)

Ami's pv has almost nothing to do with Ayu's. The only similarity is the mannequin, and I think that's just coincidence.

i guess they're both trying to express their struggles of stardom in their PVs. however, i don't think they're similar since they both have different stories. and i think they used dolls because celebrities often feel like products.

The idea of pop stars as dolls is definitely not an original concept. One of the reasons aidoru are called aidoru, and real IDOLS like ayu aren't, is because "aidoru" sounds like "love doll". That's why the swimsuit aidoru, who only exist in the media to be cute, are called that, but big singers and movie stars aren't. Big stars have functions besides just giving lonely guys something cute to look at. Doll = someone who's cute for a living. Even ayus are marketed to be cute, as are the amis of the world. So naturally sometimes they feel like nothing more than "love dolls" than artists.

hmm interesting....the screen caps shows very similiar concept...the only difference is the atmosphere of the PVs Ami's look more modern while Ayu's scenes are more like...classy (is that the right word...? with Ayu dressing up like a Barbie doll and acting like a puppet)...but I suppose it's just a coincidence...since the release dates are real close, it's not like they are a few months apart. I like Ayu's more though, it looks more creative lol ^^

The pv may look the same but the story is different: ayu is showing the things she's afraid will happen to her and Ami is talking about the things that HAS happened to her. Who cares, they are both under Avex so what's the big deal?
