My family is way too uncultured to show any sort of interest in Japanese music

my mom & dad likes some slow ayu songs....and my dad yelled at me when I played the Ya-Ga-Da-Wo Song on the stressness of traffic jam...(makes sense! :lol

I get to brainwash them by bringing my CDs and keep it on the Cd-Player at our car.....they gotta listen whether they like it or not,...and they like it after few listen...(with the exception of the YaGaDaWo song)

I haven't made any attempts yet, seeing as my sister's doing the same thing with her pop-punk (and all its whiney lead singers). But I have a suspicion that my dad's slowly getting into Ayu. For starters he has an Ayu wallpaper now!

I think I'd play the slower stuff though if I ever got round to it, since he likes ballads.

I can see that happening, that song making some poor person more stressed in a very stressful situation For me, my brother isn't impressed, he's listened to some Japanese music, and had heard of Ayu before I did, he doesn't like her. My mother only commented once, when I was watching A Museum DVD, A Song for XX - she asked me who was singing and I told her. She was surprised I listened to something in another language and I explained about the translations available - she said it was a shame you couldn't understand her without them, and that was it really. I've never tried to play Ayu's stuff for anyone really, usually if I get a lift into town with my dad, we usually play things we both like, not much else.

hmmmm I've played Ayu songs everywhere. My parents are into Ayu songs now (though they kinda hate all Japanese-related things before), and my mom sometimes discuss the songs with me ^.^ My mom likes her more emotional rock ballads (like ASFXX from A BALLADS and Memorial Address) but she absolutely cannot stand songs like HONEY or Fly High. My dad likes I am... and he loves Moments and a few others. I've also managed to get my boyfriend into Ayu (but sometimes I talk about Ayu so much that I think I annoy him...).

so she burst to tears because she was touched by the song or was she too horrified by ayu's voice?

Both my parents love Ayu and a few of my other family members like her too. I find that the best way to introduce Ayu to newbies is to show them subtitled live performances of her more emotional, hard hitting performances such as A Song For Xx at Dome Tour 01 or Teddy Bear/Memorial Address from Arena Tour 03/04 - those tend to suck people in immediately.

No matter how many videos I force him to watch or how many songs I force him to listen to, my boyfriend just refuses to become an Ayu fan He does like some songs such as Evolution, thinks Ayu is hot () and appreciates her as a legitimate artist and icon, but he just won't make that final turn into FAN. I haven't given up yet though! [shakes fist]

My family hates Ayumi except for my lil sister. She listens to her here and there and enjoys mostly her rock songs. Everytime I play ayu my mom would come in my room and say "Turn that ******* off" XD

My parents don't care one way or the other. They know who she is because Ayumi is pretty popular in Taiwan and they'll buy J-pop CD's for me if I ask. I have an aunt in Taiwan who is quite inspired by Ayumi's rise to fame and she was telling my mom about it, lol. Other than that, my cousin Rachel likes Ayumi but only her trance remixes. My sister doesn't care either way. Basically, my family is full or people who aren't bothered by what the kids like. =D

I have succeeded in "brainwashing" a few people into Ayu's music. 1st it was my cousin Ashley. I never used to have a CD burner so I would download as much Ayu stuff as possible at her house and that was right around a little before Moments was released and then I became obessesed with Moments and she grew to love the song since I played it constantly. Then I would download CMs and show them to her and I showed her the one for Memorial Address and she said she really liked "that song" and it was Because Of You and I got her into that then. Eventually I burned her MY STORY and she listens to Ayu alot now. 2nd came by friend Jenny who fell in love with Moments and then Because of You as well, lol. I burned her MY STORY also and she LOVED it alot! Next came Roberta who really had started to love anime and INUYASHA about a year before and I gave her Moments and the next day she was like "Oh my god Zeke, that song is SO GOOD! I listened to it a few times last night and then again this morning". My little sister (5th grade) likes Ayumi and a lot of other JPOP singers I listen to (Koda Kumi most recently) and she likes STEP you, fairyland, Bold & Delicious, my name's WOMEN, LADIES NIGHT, and more. I also got one of her friends into Ayumi because she rides my bus and said it was kewl that I listened to japanese music. I first played her STEP you and she wanted to hear more so I played her fairyland and she was hooked. I burned her a CD of a list of songs she liked from a MIX CD I let her borrow and then I burned her a few more CDs and now she wants to buy some of her own off of YESASIA, lol.

Isn't it fun to try and force people into liking AYU? If I tell someone I listen to japanese music, usually they are like "really? That is so cool!" and once they say that it is like I am a stranger with candy trying to reel them in and then slam the door shut and force the magic that is AYU!

None of my family members or friends like ayumi's music. They're all like "OMG her voice totally ruins the songs!"

my boyfriend likes Ayu~ but not as much as me~ he's more of a Gackt fan which kinda bugs me b/c he talks a/b Gackt so much >__<... I also tried buring CDs for my friends but I don't think alot of them liked them b/c they say they cant' understand her songs and it's not good unless you can~ (which i think is bs)..
I've gottn one of my friends into Trauma alot~ since he likes parapara~ and a few other songs~ but I liked Ayu and that's all that matters =3
