Do you think Ayu Will make a comeback with the new Single??

there is no comeback. we hear this about every single release. people will either like the release and buy it like crazy, or they won't.

ayu's already at the top, there's no comeback, there's no where else to go, lol. people keep talking about her making a comeback, and she's going to start going down for reals.

As I said in an earlier post, buying a CD today is not the same thing as it was a few years ago, artists will have a very hard time to ever get those, insanely high, sale numbers again. To this you can also add piracy. Well, Ayu was "it" back then, she is still in a position that no-one else has been able to reach in Japan. I doubt that, when Ayu is gone, someone will make it to this position again, in a very long time. My guess is that she will always be remembered as the number one, untill someone manage to overtake that place in history.

There's no need for a craze when everyone already know about her, hehe. That's why she is the number one.

But it's true what you say, unless Ayu does something incredibly revolutionary, which I think no artist ever has managed to before, there won't be another craze, like during the I am... era. Because when everyone know about someone there's nothing to be crazy about anylonger, to me that doesn't mean an artist is less popular.

Maybe it's just that we've gotten used to the craze? Her concerts selling out in a few minutes is no longer special to us, this year is holding the biggest tour ever in Ayus history, and she has been going on for 7 years! Isn't that a bit crazy? Maybe selling over EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND copies of an album is no longer special, or staying at the number one position on the charts for weeks, what's crazy with that when you've done it with every single album you've ever released?

I totally agree, And I don't think that time will come untill a next "golden age of idols", like the one that spawned akina nakamori, seiko matsuda before and Namie amuro, Ayumi hamasaki in the late 90's. If one takes a look at the charts now and compare to the years around 2000 the change is obious. Female solo artists are really fading. I think the only company that has been able to keep the popularity of their females is avex with acts like Ai Otsuka and Koda Kumi. Both hello project and Giza used to have really popular artists that always appeared in the top ten with their singles and usually appeared in the top 3 with albums. There are tons of examples, like Aya Matsuura, Rina Aiuchi, Ami Suzuki, Mai Kuraki, Utada Hilaru etc. This is also very much true for the all girl groups. I guess Ayumi was the first one to start the "more than just a pretty face"-trend, idols with more qualities than medicore singing and being pretty in CMs.

People seem to automatically assume she declining just cause Koda Kumi has a strong run going. All artists have strong runs, or at least most. But after another artist's strong run, the consistently strong will continue to dominate...

None the less, I do expect this single to sell better than her past 2 singles.

There isn't any need for a comeback is there? She's still at the pinnacle of the Japanese music industry, and her live tours still sell out at every stop. Plus, she's now making music that she enjoys. How bad could it possibly get?

And that Koda BEST got '...wow' promotion while Startin' was ... /bleh.
I don't blame Ayu for the low sales. I mean look at everyone else's first weeks! Shimatani Hitomi and ELT had first week sales in the 10k-ness x.x So disappointing. Hopefully avex promotes their artists more evenly in the coming months.

People look too much at the numbers, how much singles sell today with how much they sold a few years ago does not compare. It's not low sales on todays market, maybe a bit low for being Ayu, but it's still not low.

I belive this single will sell a lot, but I think it will depend very much on what they will name it. Hopefully not something like Beautiful Fighters c/w~.

I think people slowly get to know that all single tracks will be on the album....ayu long time hasn´t had a real b-side...only Remixes...so may thats why sellings aren´t that good^^

I don't think this will be a come back. Ayu doesn't need a come back. I've changed my view on this in the past few days. Ayu isn't selling enough anymore cuz of mp3s and stuff. The songs are still being heard and loved (hello they all went to #1) but people are thinking "Why buy it when I can get it for free?" Everyone thinks like that sometimes.

And the whole thing with Koda Kumi is just because of the 12 singles thing and the fact that she released 2 best albums within 6 months of eachother. That's all.

They are both great artists but Ayumi has been queen since Boys & Girls and I don't think anyone is taking that away, not for a long while at least.

Anywho this next single (if it does become a multiple a-side) will probably get all the attention from the press for a while, and maybe 3 or 4 covers, but with the right promotion there's no reason why Ayu couldn't keep her #1 streek going

everyone's already said what I think perfectly =] Comeback = o_O.. Coming back from what? Namie Amuro and Ami Suzuki have had comebacks, because they had somewhere to come back from XD.. and CD sales don't measure how popular a person is at all.. For example, on my bus on the way to school, the radio always plays this certain song at the same time everyday and when it comes on I can hear almost everyone saying "I love this song!" and singing the lyrics, but I know for a fact that none of them own the group's album... The point is, the group is super popular among people even though they rarely buy the actual CD.. it's likely simular with Ayu, i mean, the number of CDs bought doesnt show the number of people who like the song =]

Comeback? She doesn't need a comeback. She's already the J-Queen. Who cares if Kumi's getting all the attention right now? It isn't like everybody's forgotten about Ayu. I mean, look at all the people who post here. We're from all over the WORLD, and we're fans of Ayu. Ayu is far from running out of popularity.
